Canceled last May by the American channel ABC, Designated Survivor will still know a season 3 on a new platform, namely Netflix!
Fans of the Designated Survivor series didn't really believe it anymore!
It must be said that after the cancellation last May, the chances of the political drama to return to the small screen seemed slim, if not zero. Two months after this episode, aficionados of the program will find the smile when learning the return of their favorite series. The American giant Netflix has just formalized the order of a third season expected for next year on its platform.
A good part of the team will return including Kal Penn, Adan Canto, Italia Ricci, and of course, Kiefer Sutherland. As for Maggie Q, she is currently in contract renegotiation. And if the latest information is to be believed, it would only be a matter of time before it returns. On the production side, Designated Survivor will have a new showrunner (the fifth since its launch on screen), in the person of Neal Baer (New York Special Unit).
What can we expect from this new season?
The presidential campaign will be at the heart of the plot of this season 3. We will follow a Tom Kirkman in the middle of a campaign ready to do anything to renew his mandate. This 10-episode season will also focus on campaign financing methods and the betrayals of various political actors to protect their interests. In short, a season that promises to be thrilling!
Filming for season 3 of Designated Survivor will begin by the end of the year.
