Series released on December 10 on Netflix, Alice in Borderland is the adaptation of the popular manga by Haro Asō, bearing the same name. If most manga adaptations (real life) are not unanimous from a cinematic point of view, what about this series?

What is Alice in Borderland about?

Arisu, a young loser, prefers to spend his time playing video games rather than find a job. With his friends Karube and Chota, they dream of another world to escape this society that does not correspond to them. Suddenly fireworks erupt in Tokyo, the police arrive and the young people prefer to flee and hide. Once out of hiding, the boys find themselves in a Tokyo emptied of its population, like a parallel world. They will then have to participate and win dangerous games in order to survive. Each game has its own difficulty, represented by a card composed of a number for the difficulty, and a color designating the type of event that awaits the players. alice in borderland sur netflix c est quoi cette serie de sf japonaise 1 "Alice in Borderland" Review on Netflix: Part 1

Who is this series for? What style should we expect?

If Alice in Borderland is considered a Shōnen Manga, in reality it reaches more people, especially since it is not recommended at least 16 years old. This recommendation seems surprising after watching the first four episodes. Indeed there are violent scenes, but for the moment they are still limited. This series is a mix of different universes. We could mention Hunger Games, Cube, Ready Player One or Saw, without the gore side of the latter. Without copying, this series really makes us think about these movies that you may have loved. It is interesting to note that we are not in a "geek" universe even though the main character is one. That's why more people will be interested in this series.

Part 1: Episodes 1-4

The setting up of the plot is quite interesting, we discover the characters who are also very endearing. They will have to show reflection, strategy but also team spirit to survive. There are four types of tests, physical, intellectual, psychological, and the last mixes physical, intellect and teamwork. It is really nice to follow the episodes of Alice in Borderland, which pass at a crazy speed! We are really in the presence of a successful manga adaptation halfway through this first season. We don't have time to get bored, even if the plot doesn't advance much at the moment. In short, we do not say more, we let you discover this series! Finally a cinematographic success for an adaptation of a manga, thank you! We can't wait to see the last four episodes of this very intriguing season 1. See you at the end of the month for the second part of our review.
