Three years after its first French series Marseille, Netflix, the streaming giant, is now betting on the French capital for its new work. It was Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, who announced it to our colleagues of Télé 7 Jours in an interview:
"Paris will be the star of the next Netflix series," she said, adding that the city continues to arouse the curiosity of many directors.
For many years, Paris has become a capital coveted by filmmakers and advertisers. Anne Hidalgo reveals that in 2017, nearly 11,000 shootings were relayed, representing a 17% increase in achievements in the heart of the city. "It's an average of 15 shoots a day, it's huge!" insists the mayor of Paris. According to her, this increase would be due to the influence of the city around the world, thanks to "important work of promotion".
In recent months, Paris has notably hosted the filming of the renowned Mission Impossible 6 or that of Fantastic Beasts 2. These last two, likely to stir up the enthusiasm of many amateurs, were entirely shot in immense discretion, thanks to the perfect anticipation of the mayor of Paris. Indeed, Anne Hidalgo revealed that she cooperated with the production teams through a secret code: "Gemini" for Mission Impossible 6, and "Voltaire" for Fantastic Beasts 2. Thefilming of the sixth part of the S Mission Impossible film series, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, has therefore engaged the arrival of Tom Cruise in the French capital. A feature film filmed after the Paris attacks, which almost saw the light of day in Berlin. The latter city was presumed as a replacement city for Paris, a choice that the actor regretted. Indeed, he insists that he chose Paris to "show thatthis is where you have to be".
Note that the film Les Animaux Fantastiques will be released in November 2018 and that Mission Impossible 6, whose world premiere will take place in Paris, will be available on the big screenfrom August 1st. Regarding the next French series signed Netflix, it will feature three single Parisian friends in search of love. Directed by Noémie Saglio, the series will be built in eight episodes.
