Marvel Studios was very present during the San Diego Comic-Con, with many new features including The Defenders, The Punisher, Iron Fist, The Gifted and Legion series. Here we take stock of all this information!
The Defenders: a featurette and a trailer
A first featurette video of the series was unveiled before the special panel for The Defenders series, a video narrated by none other than Stan Lee himself! We learn in passing that the character of the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, is part of the cast of the series and that we can expect a post-credits scene at the end of the last episode of the season, as is the tradition of the works of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The official Twitter account of the series has also unveiled two clips of this first season (available here and here), as well as a new official trailer, this time without Stan Lee. We will find in the series The Defenders the characters of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, as well as the Punisher and Elektra (both discovered in season 2 of Daredevil).
The Punisher: a special Comic-Con poster
We were talking about him just above: Jon Bernthal arrives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and he is well on his way to staying there for a while! The Punisher will appear in The Defenders but will also be entitled to his own series, as evidenced by the first shooting photo unveiled a few months ago. No trailer yet, but a poster created specifically for San Diego Comic-Con! The series The Punisher should be available on Netflix for the end of 2017.
Iron Fist: the series renewed for a season 2
The Netflix series Iron Fist clearly did not have a phenomenal success with critics, but it is nevertheless the most binge-watched series on Netflix in March 2017. It is therefore no surprise that it has been renewed for a second season, with a different showrunner at the helm. The series welcomes Raven Metzner, the executive producer of Sleepy Hollow, to replace Scott Buck. Iron Fist will also make room for a new character already known to fans of the Luke Cage series: Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick. In the comics, she has a relationship with Danny Rand. Some imagine that his arrival in the series could mean the creation of the agency "Heroes for rent", a collaboration between Luke Cage, Danny Rand, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing in the comics. While waiting to see the solo adventures of Danny Rand probably in 2019, he will be in the series The Defenders from August 18 on Netflix. Rediscover below the trailer of the first season of Iron Fist !
The Gifted: a new trailer
This time, it is not with Netflix but with FOX that Marvel Studios has partnered! The Gifted series will be about mutants, in the tradition of the X-Men but without being exactly in the same universe (that is to say not in the continuity of the films), and its pilot episode will be directed by Bryan Singer, the director of X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. In the pitch announced, we will follow two parents who discover that their children have special abilities and who decide to join an underground network of mutants to escape the government that is hostile to them. The first few minutes of the series were revealed during the panel dedicated to The Gifted but were not posted online. On the other hand, a new trailer has been released and is now available to the general public. The Gifted is set to debut on October 2, 2017 on FOX.
Legion: some info about season 2
Comic-Con hosted a panel dedicated to the Legion series during which some additional information about the rest of the series was revealed. Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes, two more than the first season. Filming of the series has begun and airing is expected in February 2018. As a small bonus, it was mentioned the possibility of an appearance of Professor X in the scenario of the series, but not anytime soon. Rediscover while waiting for the trailer of the first season of Legion below!
The Marvel series seem to arrive one after the other for a few months, all in all for our greatest happiness! During Comic-Con, a first trailer for The Inhumans series was also unveiled. See you on August 18 at the earliest for the start of The Defenders series on Netflix!
