This Friday, March 26, Disney + unveiled the second episode of the series Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This one increases the pressure and the pace accelerates. Episode 1 of the new Marvel series has laid the groundwork, but the second episode allows us to get to the heart of the matter. The themes are deeper: racism, regret, redemption. In addition, Bucky is much more present, and he is determined to take his place against the Flag Smashers.
A disappointing Captain America
From the beginning of the episode, there is a feeling of the series The Boys in the first minutes. Fanfare, television show, without the arrogant side of the Protector. The new Captain America is not really like the old one. Yet the government wanted to get it right. John Walker (Wyatt Russell) is a brave soldier, but also a loyal friend, wishing to honor the first Captain America. Sam and Bucky are quickly confronted by their enemies, who are also super-soldiers, but the arrival of the new Captain America will save them, even if this arrival was to be premeditated. Unfortunately, he has not yet arrived at the ankle of the real Captain America. This first fight scene between all this good world is true to the talent of Marvel. A pleasant scene to watch, with a certain suspense. The tension is palpable between the three heroes who do not really get along. And what happens next is not going to help.
Sam and Bucky, I love you, neither do I
The meeting between Sam and Bucky is brought a little abruptly. We quickly understand that the duo will not form without pitfalls. The two never agree, which can and will probably put them at risk, if it hasn't already happened. There is a lot of reference to Captain America, which is the element that unites Sam and Bucky. Dr. Raynord seems quite insignificant in the first episode, but in reality in the episode, we can assume a central role in the lives of both protagonists. Now we will have to wait to see and understand his help in the story. The session with the psychologist is really essential in this episode. Between humor and seriousness, the two characters are forced to lay themselves bare.
Bucky finally in the center
We learn even more about Bucky's past thanks to the introduction of a new character, Isaiah, another superhero. Hoping that it will reappear in the rest of the series to learn more about this other who looks suspiciously like Captain America, but also to learn more about Bucky's past, which still remains a mystery on some points. Isaiah is a character known to fans of comics and the MCU, he is often referred to as Black Captain America. It would be relevant to see it again in the rest of the series. For connoisseurs of the MCU universe, we can hope for an appearance of characters like Black Captain and Patriot in the rest of the series.
A successful third episode for Disney+
The double plot mixes rather well for now, between the new Captain America and the mystery of the Flag Smashers. The little humor of Marvel is always present, and here, it is perfectly balanced with the problems that the two protagonists have to manage. An episode full of emotion, which allows the series to distinguish itself from other productions of the MCU. The action is present, but the two central characters, Sam and Bucky, allow depth thanks to their respective journeys. One more point for the choice of music, which is a strong point of Marvel. Here she adequately accompanies every moment of the episode. The episode ends with Bucky turning to HYDRA, and going to see Helmut Zemo. A promising end of episode for the future. With this second episode, Falcon and the Winter Soldier traces a path in the line of Marvel but with a certain identity specific to the characters. Disney + has done well with this series, which even with only two episodes, makes you want to see the sequel. At Just Focus, we can't wait to be next Friday to watch the third episode of the series.
