Monterey's moms are reuniting again for season 2 of Big Little Lies. We told you that Meryl Streep joined the cast a few weeks ago. This time, it's the turn of Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz to confirm their return!
These three actresses will reprise their respective roles: Renata, Jane and Bonnie. HBO also took the opportunity to announce the new stakes of the female characters. Spoilers alert!
Celeste (Nicole Kidman): After the death of her husband Perry, Celeste is adrift, but determined to fight for her family. She wants to find the woman she once was.
Madeline (Reese Witherspoon): Realizing that good intentions do not necessarily have good consequences, Madeline will confront the truth about Perry's death. She will reconnect with the traditional values of the family and try to save her marriage.
Jane (Shailene Woodley): Jane will try to build a new life for herself with Ziggy.
Renata (Laura Dern): The queen of control Renata will have to face new challenges in her life as a couple.
Bonnie (Zoë Kravitz): Bonnie struggles with memories of Perry's death and will have to confront the demons of her past.
Season 2 of Big Little Lies will consist of 7 episodes that will be written by David E. Kelley. Andrea Arnold is after Jean-Marc Vallée to direct although he remains executive producer on the project.
Production on Season 2 is expected to begin in March 2018 for a 2019 launch.
