Annie Potts joins the series as a regular character. She will play Sheldon's grandmother, also named many times by the latter "Meemaw". The character is mentioned several times during the first 8 seasons, before appearing during season 9 as June Squibb. Described as having a good run and known for her outspokenness, she is the mother of Mary (played by Zoe Perry). She "supports her grandson and his only gift a lot."
Annie Potts is known for her role in Designing Women, but she has also appeared in Chicago Med and The Fosters. She is also known for her role in Ghostbusters in 1984, 1989 and 2016 where she was a receptionist of Ghostbusters.
