When trying to teach history to current generations, there is usually a lack of interest on the part of young people. The medieval period is not the most attractive for them. Well, the many Norman festivities revolving around this decisive battle that saw Harold Godwinson (English King) clash with Duke William of Normandy, are an excellent opportunity to introduce your families to this little-known period of history.

A rich program to celebrate the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings

The key figure in this historic event is William the Conqueror. The life of this great leader is particularly rich. We strongly urge you to discover all that shaped this man through his biography.

The one that the English call William the conqueror, is in the honor of several scheduled activities. The great chivalry tournament will certainly be one of the most popular attractions. It will take place from 23 to 26 July. 10 knights wearing the outfits of the time will compete in epic jousts on horseback. They will conclude their duels with fights on land.

Among the must-sees, we will also mention the Games Festival which will take place on August 13 and 14, 2016. The castle of Falaise will be the scene of a fabulous reconstruction that will make you relive one of the stages of the conquest of the "Perfidious Albion". Nearly 250 people participate in this event where 40 associations are represented. The Games Festival should be a beautiful foray into the glorious past of one of France's most beautiful wines, Normandy.
