The French comic book market is doing well. The latest statistics from the Comic Book Critics Association speak of a 0.9% increase in publications in 2016. A small French publishing house, Snorgleux Comics, has decided to hit hard in September 2017 by planning the release of Animosity.
In order to be able to stay in a particularly contested universe, you have to make the right choices. Snorgleux being a small structure, it is not confronted with the problems of large houses. She opted for two quality releases that will be released in September 2017: Animosity and American Monster. Another quality title will arrive in November 2017, Shipwreck.
When talking about comics to the general public, they will first think of Marvel works (published in France by Panini Comics) or DC Comics titles (published by Urban). By taking a look at the catalog of this company founded by professionals and comics lovers, it will be an opportunity for you to discover three new titles in France that explore topics in line with our news.
Animosity, the awakening of animals
It is certainly the most accessible title among the three blockbusters offered. Supported by a talented creative team, this comic-book tackles an original theme, the sudden awakening of all the animals on the planet. Imagine a world where your dog, cat or rabbit becomes aware of things, and starts talking to you as if nothing had happened. For some, it would be a nightmare, for others, a unique opportunity. The story mainly focuses on a little girl named Jesse and her dog Sandor. Our friendly duo will have to face a world in crisis where humans and animals give free rein to their worst inclinations. A most destabilizing road trip where different themes of our society will be addressed. We will come back more to the first volume that we had the great privilege of discovering in preview.
Snorgleux Comics surrounds itself with the big names in comics
The publisher's 2017 line-up is impressive since the second title that will land in September is by Brian Azzarello. He is one of the best writers working in the business. He distinguished himself on Batman and independent titles like 100 Bullets. In American monster, we plunge into the life of a completely disfigured man in the Midwest. A particularly gripping black work
One of the legends of the comics, Warren Ellis will end the year in November with Shipwreck. It follows the story of the sole survivor of a shipwreck, Dr. Jonathan Shipwright.
Snorgleux has a very attractive end of the year in store for us and we can only recommend that you take an interest in these titles in order to allow this inspired publishing house to continue its excellent work.
