Whether in space or after the apocalypse, everything ends in disaster in the family of Rick & Morty… But between their regular confusions will they have time to save the world?

The Blockbuster of Comedy Comics

This ninth volume published by Hi comics brings together four different stories over one or two episodes. The fan of the anime will easily slip into the rails of the series. Indeed, the drawings of Marc Ellerby and Sabrina Mati are totally in this filiation. In addition, the screenwriter Kyle Starks finds the humor very successful but also explodes all moral barriers. The first episodes are certainly concerned with a space threat. However, the tone is very far from Star Wars because, the planets are at least original … The teuf planet of the teufeurs clebs presents the complete delirium of a canine mafia. Their godfather talks like a night owl returning from Ibiza but that does not stop him from launching a manhunt against Rick. Indeed, creators are attacking entertainment behemoths. The first story is a parody of the Avengers or more precisely the Guardians of the Galaxy. The ship of the Finisher of the Worlds arrives on Earth and a motley team of intergalactic heroes comes to save the Earth. When the Revengers arrive, Morty is overjoyed and Rick plays jaded. He mocks their origins, their powers and the heroic words ampoulated. Rick does not listen to them and wants to end it as soon as possible… before the start of his favorite TV show. As often in current comics, the good ones are opposed but the dialogues are to die of laughter. Kyle Starks mocks recent stories where heroes from minorities are certainly on the team but remain confined to corners of the box. Of course, the episode ends with a big fight but in a ridiculous way. Rick Morty 3 Rick and Morty (volume 9): would you invite them for Christmas?

A connected series

The reader who begins with this volume could be confused because it is the direct continuation of the previous volume. But the very clever screenwriter uses a completely delusional character to make the summary: Mr. Poop Box destroys the fourth wall – by talking to the reader directly – at the beginning and then in corners of boxes. For one of the first times, the volume includes several characters from the previous volumes. This reunion is a real pleasure for the fans. However, it is not mandatory to have read the previous episodes because Mr. Poop Box introduces each of the characters. Monsieur Pas-bien, a creation of Rick, is a big bully tattooed and silly but who has the round face of a baby. Peacock Jones is an alien without morals but also the parody of Doctor Who by his space shuttle that looks like the phone booth of the Doctor. All these enemies found the anti-Rick squadron to finally shoot down their Nemesis. After so many episodes where Rick despised everyone, it's nice to see him get hit. Even the stepson, Jerry, emancipates himself and takes revenge by rallying the teufeurs and the squadron. To get out of this perilous situation, the Smith family has totally absurd solutions. The mother shows her breasts to scare away a criminal while the father pulls down the pants of an attacker. Strangely, these techniques work. In the second story, Rick & Morty have just escaped from the worst prison – a bathorian penis – but they discover that copies from another dimension have replaced them. The last story is a parody of apocalyptic tales where Summers dressed in animal skins and her father turned ice cabinet fend off unlikely monsters and a mutant Morty. Humor then gives way to emotion by reflecting on family ties. At the end of the volume, the bonus episodes written by Tini Howard and drawn by Jarett Williams take the duo on a public domain journey where they meet characters whose copyright has expired such as Sherlock Holmes, or Tom Sawyer. Rick Morty 2 scaled Rick and Morty (volume 9): would you invite them for Christmas? In the ninth volume of the adaptation of Rick & Morty, the reader always laughs as much at the space or inter-dimensional adventures of the Smith family. The creative duo works very well through the cruelty of situations and dialogues. In the face of the worst threats, Rick aims very low and does not respect any rules but it works. Even the morals of the end of the episode are twisted: do not show your sex unless asked. Links to Pokémon special episodes can be found at this link and on role-playing games here.
