Written by Kid Toussaint and illustrated by Miss Prickly, the fourth volume of the Animal Jack comic book series , Le réveil des dodos was published on February 5 by Dupuis editions in the Dupuis collection "Jeunesse".

The awakening of extinct animal species

Jack is a little boy who has the gift of transforming into the animal of his choice and talking with animals. He went to his grandfather's house with his parents following the death of his grandmother. On the spot, he discovers strange birds that he has never seen and with which he can not communicate: dodos. Other extinct species resurface in the village and begin to sow discord among the inhabitants.

Animal Jack, tenderness in bubbles

Animal Jack's characters, whether adults, Jack or animals, are all very endearing. The drawings, rounded and warm, reinforce the sympathy that emanates from the story. The animals are superb and Jack's silence does not hinder the understanding of his feelings as the layout of Miss Prickly gives life to his creations. A lot of love emerges from this comic, both in the relationships between the characters and towards nature and animals.

A committed and didactic book

Through The Awakening of the Dodos, this new volume of Animal Jack offers a reflection on nature, the threats that weigh on it and the difficulty of apprehending them. Kid Toussaint raises the difficulty of working for the future and becoming aware of the mistakes of the present without locking oneself in the past. This book also addresses the issue of tolerance and benevolence towards others even in the event of disagreement. He also takes the opportunity to teach readers more about extinct or endangered species. Animal Jack: The Awakening of the Dodos is a sensitive and touching book that delivers deep and vital messages with great subtlety and emotion.
