The Disappearance of Stephanie Mailer – Joel DickerNew in 2018

For 2018, one of the most sought-after French-language authors of recent years returns to the front of the stage with a new police officer. You guessed it, Joël Dicker is publishing a new novel that will be released on March 7, 2018. It's called The Disappearance of Stephanie Mailer. After the huge success of La Vérité sur l'Affaire Harry Québert (Prix Goncourt des lycéens 2012 and Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie Française 2012), Dicker is eagerly awaited for this new novel which promises to be rather similar to his previous bestseller. Indeed, The Disappearance of Stephanie Mailer will follow us, as its name suggests, the disappearance of a journalist named Stephanie Mailer , who accused police officers of having mistaken culprit on a murder case dating from 1994. The disappearance taking place in 2014, this novel should make us plunge back into the perfect mastery of time of Joël Dicker. In The Truth About the Harry Québert Affair, he took us on a journey between the past dating back to 1975 and the present in 2008, when Marcus Goldman was investigating the past of his university professor, Harry Québert. Let's hope this new book by Dicker is as good as the previous one of its kind!
To be published by Fallois on March 7, 2018.

New in 2018The Little Book of Feminist Saints – Julia Pierpont / Manjitt Thapp (illustrator)

Two talented women have collaborated together to offer us a sublime and important book on portraits of iconic feminist women of history. Julia Pierpont, author, and Manjitt Thapp, illustrator, have concocted The Little Book of Feminist Saints to be published on March 6, 2018 by Random House. In this book, we can discover among many others, the stories of Frida Kahlo, Nina Simone, Virginia Woolf or Malala Yousafzai, women from different eras, different origins and different professions, but gathered here because all have marked their lives in particular by their feminist actions and thoughts. A book to offer to anyone interested in the feminist cause, but not only! This book highlights the women who have marked our history, who are far too little represented in textbooks and the media.

Queer, There, and Everywhere: 23 People Who Changed the World – Sarah Prager / Zoe More O'Ferrall

New in 2018In the same vein as the previous book, Queer, There, and Everywhere: 23 People Who Changed the World traces the identities of twenty-three LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) personalities who have had an impact on our history. Very few – if ever – représenté.es, LGBT/Queer people have existed among the iconic figures we already know, such as Abraham Lincoln or Eleanor Roosevelt. The author, Sarah Prager, is accompanied by Zoe More O'Ferrall in the creation of this book, the latter being an illustrator. This book raises awareness of the spectrum of sexualities: it makes it possible to question heteronormativity, and to represent LGBT people throughout history. As with The Little Book of Feminist Saints, these playful and enjoyable books will be perfect for everyone, petit.es and grand.es.
To be published in paperback format by Reprint on May 29, 2018.

The New in 2018Prodigious Friend IV, The Lost Child – Elena Ferrante

Yes, all good things come to an end… On January 18, Gallimard will publish the last volume of the Neapolitan saga L' amie prodigieuse, entitled L'enfant perdue. A year that we have all been waiting for with enormous excitement, this last part should tell the end of the story of friendship between Lila and Elena. If the first book introduced us to the two protagonists, children, who got to know each other while discovering life, the second rather depicted the adolescent era, puberty. At the end of The One Who Runs and The One Who Remains, Volume 3, Lila was setting up her computer business with Enzo, and Elena finally realized her dream: to love Nino and be loved by him, even if it meant abandoning her husband and endangering her writing career and her place as a mother. One thing is certain: it is impossible to let go of this great, rich, sincere, full of life story. And we can't wait to see if the latest book will answer all our questions.

And I still live – Jean d'OrmessonNew in 2018

Still published by Gallimard, you can now find in the 2018 novelties the latest book written by Jean d'Ormesson. He will not have the joy of promoting it: the great man of letters that he was disappeared on December 5. Published on January 11, 2018, in the publishing house that did him the honor of bringing him into the Pléiade during his lifetime, Gallimard, his latest opus And I, I Always Live is a last wink of the Academician, immortal, to his readers. It is therefore a posthumous book, which tells us the story of a character alternately emperor, falconer, courtesan, man, woman, powerful, modest, but who runs through the entire history of humanity. This allows the illustrious author to defend his convictions, as always, namely the apology of happiness and the pleasure of discovery. Another book should be published during the year by Héloïse d'Ormesson.

4321 – Paul AusterNews2018

Finally if you like big books, plump, if you only fall for cobblestones, then look no further, we found what you must read at the beginning of the year: 4321 by Paul Austrer. Published at the beginning of the year by Actes Sud, the latest opus of the famous novelist tells in 1024 pages, in settings of the 50s and 60s in the United States, four incredible destinies for one and the same person. Born in 1947, Archie Ferguson is a young boy of Jewish origin who will know four fundamentally different paths through a narrative hitherto unheard of in contemporary literature. After seven years of absence, Paul Auster succeeds in his great return to the front of the stage with this monumental work that may mark the year 2018 literarily !
