Synopsis

2029, Adam Jensen is a newly integrated officer in the special section of Task Force 29. Himself being the only augmented (human modified by technology) of his unit, he quickly attracts the mistrust of his teammates. Yet his extraordinary abilities allow him to accomplish feats. As soon as we arrive, a delicate mission looms since children have been taken hostage by dissident Augmented Members. The tension is then at its peak and humanity divided in two begins to tear itself apart.

A story of ancipation

In this title of anticipation par excellence, we find a little Blade Runner side, with this racial struggle between humans and superhumans. For those who do not know this license, it is a struggle between flesh and blood humans and cybernetized humans, perceived as dangerous and paradoxically inferior. It is about new technologies, robotics, but also apartheid and political manipulation in this science fiction narrative that resonates in our very real time.

An introduction to Deus Ex

Deus Ex Universe Dissidence can be read independently and it is not necessary to know the universe of the games to fully understand the story. Even so, fans will recognize familiar elements in this official prequel to Deus EX: Mankind Divided. For those who have finished the game, this comic explains the origin of the rebellion of the augmented.

The graphics are of good quality, the action is readable, the characters well identifiable and the colorization well done. Color differences for some dialogues are a good idea. It should also be noted that the cover illustration is particularly successful.

Deus Ex Universe Dissent

To conclude, this comic is inherently interesting, but it makes sense when you compare it to Mankind Divided.
