This Thursday, October 13, the last long-awaited Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to singer-songwriter Bob Dylan for his body of work.

Bob Dylan Nobel Prize in Literature

This distinction is awarded each year to a writer who has rendered great service to humanity through a literary work that has demonstrated a powerful ideal. To everyone's surprise, Bob Dylan became the first musician to be awarded this prestigious literary prize. He succeeds Belarusian Svetlana Alexievich, crowned in 2015, and Patrick Modiano, who was crowned in 2014.

Bob Dylan: the icon turned Nobel laureate

His real name is Robert Allen Zimmerman, Bob Dylan became known in the 60s with very committed texts against the war. We recently told you about his pen as a poet, he does not hesitate to use it as a weapon to deal with social issues. His "chronicles" testify to the talent that influenced the following generations. Many artists from all walks of life claim to be descendants of the same wave, including David Bowie ("Song for Bob Dylan"), Bruce Springsteen and Guns'N Roses who cover his legendary "Knocking on Heaven's Door", Jimi Hendrix and his re-interpretation of "All Along the Watchtower" and many others. It can be said that Dylan's musical heritage inspires as much as it fascinates.

Playing with shapes, rhythms, atmospheres, literary references, instruments, with his voice, too, his creative genius has contributed to the influence of American popular culture. Now 75 years old, he released last May his 37th album, "Fallen Angels", where he performs American standards popularized by Frank Sinatra. Bob Dylan is now an icon rewarded for "creating new poetic expressions in the great tradition of American song". We leave you with a cult track that has inspired many clips and movie scenes.
