After The Dying & the Dead of Glénat comics, Delcourt offers another title of the American publishing house of the creator of Walking Dead with Green Valley.

Skybound in the air

the beginning of Green Valley Thanks to the exceptional success of The Walking Dead, screenwriter Robert Kirkman was able to set up his own Skybound publishing house. It offers independent mini-series with recognized authors such as Jonathan Hickman. With Green Valley, the creative team consists of Max Landis – the son of Blues Brother actor John Landis – on the script and Giuseppe Camuncoli on the drawings. Its very simple and fine line added to very bright colors gives a fun atmosphere. Camuncoli is also very good in action scenes – the boxes are smaller and the setting is very simple. Delcourt offers at the end of the volume the sketches of characters that allow us to appreciate even more the work of the draftsman.

Real knights…

The four knights of Kelodie – Ralphus of Erskine, Bortwald, Gulliver and Indrid – defend their small kingdom from the barbarians but they are very sure of themselves. They're real tough guys. Faced with the imminent attack of an army, they discuss mode: should we wear a helmet? They crush this horde and Bortwald proposes to him. They then all meet to celebrate the big news at a banquet. However, the same evening, the surprise attack of the barbarians kills the king, the betrothed of Bortwald and ravages the castle. Everything collapsed and a year later, the knights did not recover. It is then that a child comes to ask them to free the village of Green Valley from a mage.

… turn out to be lost

We gradually discover the true face of these heroes. The boastful Gulliver actually never fought a dragon. They have never seen a mage. In Green Valley, they face a danger they don't understand. But is it really magic??? The dragons of these knights seem strangely familiar to us. Similarly, the leather jacket of the mage Cyril the black seems very contemporary. How will our bravest knights fight against this tyrant with extraordinary power? A thwarted friendship Green Valley is also a story of friendship. Ralphus is jealous of Bortwald's bride because he is in love with his companion. This situation and the depression of having lost everything causes tension between the knights. These thwarted feelings and this crisis of courage make these characters dense. Green Valley is therefore a positive series about honor, love and friendship. It is also a good action series thanks to the talent of Giuseppe Camuncoli. Finally, these nine episodes mix historical adventure and humor brilliantly.
