The Tchô de Glénat collection is aimed more particularly at young audiences. It follows the birth of the creation of the character created by Zep, Titeuf. "The Giants Volume 2" is one of the series in his catalog. This project is the result of a trio of talented artists composed of Lylian, Christ and Lorien. After a first volume where we met a plant giant, place to Siegfried, a young boy with a disability. The Giants is above all a story tinged with fantasy where children enter into symbiosis with forces of nature. Erin is the first protagonist of this saga. She suffers terribly due to the loss of her parents in an accident. Victim of bullying, she is saved in extremis by a plant giant. During the same period, a multinational firm called Crossland Corporation found a mysterious Giant in the Arctic. In the second volume, place to Siegfried, a young German from a privileged home. His parents are still alive but they entrust him under the good care of Slimane, a very qualified man. The young boy is physically disabled and suffers from the regular absence of his family.

The Giants: The Creative Team

We find in the scenario Lylian. Yes, it is the same screenwriter present on the tremendous success of Ewilan's quest. We are talking about Pierre Bottero's masterpiece in comics. For the entire graphic part, Paul Drouin is responsible for illustrating this story, which gives pride of place to ecology. He is the graphic director of the entire saga. The expressions displayed by the human protagonists are simple but correspond perfectly to the sequences written by the author. The most interesting part concerns the realization of the Giants. Their design is original, each has characteristics in line with its skills. For the Giants Volume 2, James Christ takes over while following Paul's instructions. Lorien does a beautiful job in terms of colors. It adapts with some ease to the playgrounds of each force of nature. For this new volume, Adryel mastering water, the colorist draws on different shades of blue in order to best represent the powers of the character.

Young heroes in harmony with nature

The qualities of this new saga are not limited to the drawings. We take pleasure in discovering this young boy who fits well with the new generation of today. He is a keen observer, who masters the technological tools at his disposal. He knows that the current situation is not normal and therefore asks the right questions, even if it means questioning the behavior of adults. Of course, this is not the first work to feature a child forming a special relationship with a giant. Animation enthusiasts remember The Iron Giant, a splendid feature film that brilliantly exploits the fusional friendship between a boy and a metal giant. However, in The Giants, there is a fairly clear critique of today's world and the means used by lobbies to achieve their ends. In addition, Erin and Sigfried develop a symbiotic relationship with the giants that is more akin to the bond between Venom (friend / foe depending on Spider-Man's arcs at Marvel). There is no risk of redundancy in the scenario since each new book gives way to a new child-giant pairing. A history in perpetual renewal. Volume 2 of the Giants gives us singular duettists, Siegfried and Adryel, who risk being strong allies in the confrontation between the forces of nature and the firm.
