As the school year comes to an end, Panini comics invites you to attend the summer courses of the Strange Academy. Follow the guide of this brand new school like no other…

A school for the new generation of magicians

Doctor Strange is one of the most powerful magicians in the Marvel Universe and certainly the best known. However, he is not the only one especially since he allowed the return of magic in the universe. Young people on Earth and in the worlds around them discover that they have occult talents, but not all of them know how to control them. Constrained and forced, Stephen Strange decided to create a school for these teenagers in New Orleans. Emily Bright is one of those young, inexperienced magicians. It is through it that the reader enters the Strange Academy. Emily has written to the doctor for help as she has manipulated dark powers beyond her. She will have a lot to do since as soon as she arrives, she helps the doctor hunt a giant monster. Humberto Ramos in Strange Academy

Teachers and beginners in Strange Academy

The idea of giving schoolchildren fantastic adventures is not new to Marvel. The X-Men were originally students of Professor Xavier's Institute. Mutants have also known multiple schools of young high school students from the New Mutants to the Young X-Men, even the Avengers have known an Academy. With each new team, the writers transmitted their vision of youth. For Strange Academy, Marvel entrusted this task to Skottie Young. His very cartoony drawing in I Hate Fairyland made him a specialist in children's stories. If he may have been caustic elsewhere, Young is wiser in Strange Academy. It focuses on creating young, believable and modern characters. Strange Academy is indeed an ode to tolerance because the school welcomes anyone with powers without preconceptions over the species. Among the newcomers, we find indeed, a fairy, the son of the demon Dormammu, a snow giant… However, this diversity does not delight the arrogant Asgardian twins Iric and Alvi. Some of these students hide their true nature. Teachers are also far from the canons of national education. Strange entrusted these children to the Voodoo Brother, the Red Witch, the mutant Magic, Shaman and the demon Hellstrom. These plot elements may remind you of Harry Potter who is one of the writer's influences. We are indeed witnessing the arrival of the new students, their installation in a splendid colonial residence and the first courses very strange as the history of mystical objects. Students are helped by a gruff Conscious butler. Young goes so far as to add to each episode a page of text related to education as a registration form. Young is in Strange Academy only the scriptwriter, it is Humberto Ramos who takes care of the drawings. This regular of the Marvel series has long worked on Spider-Man. Its line close to the manga fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the series. It should also be noted that the superb colorization by Edgar Delgado adds a softness by pastel tones and a richness of texture unmatched in recent releases.

A gateway to the Marvel Universe

This volume gathering the first six episodes of the series is a very good gateway to discover Marvel comics. Indeed, as with any launch of a new series, it is useless to know in depth this sprawling publishing house since most of the characters are new. The series being autonomous, it is not necessary to buy the other series including that of Doctor Strange which appears for the moment quite little. Students coming from both Earth and Asgard, Strange Academy allows you to discover the different universes of the House of Ideas and might inspire you to read more. This is also the goal of the French publisher of Marvel since this first volume is offered at the very small price of ten euros. Students of Strange Academy Strange Academy makes us discover an interesting first promotion by various characters concealing many mysteries. The series propels these students into promising adventures. Forget Hogwarts, the most fun school of magic is definitely Strange Academy. Besides, I am waiting for my mail announcing that I will be the new teacher of magic formulas. You can find on this link the other expected releases of Panini comics and if you are interested in magic an article on recent releases on The Red Witch.
