On June 9, La porte de Géhenne, the first volume of the diptych Le manoir Sheridan, was published in the collection Vents d'Ouest published by Glénat editions. Written by Jacques Lamontagne and illustrated by Ma Yi, this first opus opens the doors to the mysterious mansion and another world.

Sheridan Manor, a hospitable refuge

After a sled accident on a frozen lake in Quebec in the early twentieth century, Daniel is saved by Mickhaï, the Sheridan's impressive butler. During his convalescence, Daniel is offered hospitality by Angus Mac Mahon, the master of the house. Only one obligation is imposed on him in return: not to go to the west wing. Driven by curiosity, Daniel ventures there anyway and meets the beautiful Edana, niece of Angus victim of catalepsy. Under the spell of the mysterious young woman, he is determined to do everything possible to get her out of this state.

A fantastic tale

The catalepsy of the beautiful Edana is not due to a natural cause. It is in another world, a parallel world populated by nightmarish creatures, that Daniel will have to venture in order to save his beloved. The story of Sheridan Manor, exciting and full of mysteries, promises beautiful adventures on either side of the gate of Gehenna. As for the illustrations, they are at the height of the magic of the tale, dark, fine, precise and mesmerizing. The 56 pages of The Gate of Gehenna are dotted with beautiful and captivating scenery and landscapes.

Intriguing characters

Sheridan Manor isn't the only one with a mystery. All the characters, including Daniel, contain their shadow and raise questions to which this first volume answers little. The sled driven by Daniel contained the loot obtained from the theft of a general store. Apart from this element and a few flashbacks, the identity of the main character remains very intriguing. These secrets surrounding the various protagonists maintain the interest of the reader well after the end of the first volume, not only for the main plot but also for the personal history of the characters crossed during the visit of the mansion. The first volume of Sheridan Manor is a great success that makes you want to discover more about the secrets of the mansion and the gate of Gehenna.
