In 20 years of presence in the cinema, Spiderman, one of the most appreciated heroes around the world has worn many costumes. He debuts a new outfit in the latest opus, No Way Home.We come back in this article on the costumes worn by Peter Parker over the years.
The costume in the movie Spider-Man 1, 2, & 3
The first Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker showed us the process of making the spiderman costume. In this iteration, Peter Parker was not friends with Tony Stark, nor was he a scientist. So the costume was simply made from a stretchy red fabric (easy to recognize as it tears in almost every movie). The canvas lances were not additional components of the costume, since hers came naturally out of her wrists. It can therefore be assumed that Parker added small openings so that the canvas could come out. Despite the lack of outside help or high-tech props, this costume provided Parker (and audiences around the world) with a good foundation of what Spider-Man could look like in action.
The Symbiote Costume
In Spider-Man 3, Parker – and his faithful red suit – comes into contact with the alien symbiote that will turn Eddie Brock into Venom. Instead of turning Parker into a monstrous and drooling being, the symbiote gave his costume an elegant black hue and brought out some unpleasant character traits when Parker wore it for long periods of time. The depictions in the comics vary slightly compared to the film version, but at least the aspect is still as sympathetic.
The Amazing Spider-Man
In this version of Spiderman, played by Andrew Garfield, he is an aspiring scientist. In addition to the red spandex suit, he had self-created throwers that threw webs. Apart from that, the costume from the second Spider-Man series is known to have a less prominent web design on the body and a smaller spider emblem on the chest than the previous outfit. The wear and tear that the costume undergoes in the movies also reflects the artisanal aspect of the costume. It's good tailor's job, Peter!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man's costume underwent some changes for Andrew Garfield's second film as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. If the main colors remained red and blue, the band near Peter Parker's waist returned and the eyes became white again. For many fans, this is the costume that appears in the comics.
Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming
These films mark the third emergence of Peter Parker and also feature the winning association of Spider-Man and Iron Man. Since his appearance in Civil War, Parker has been fortunate to benefit from Tony Stark's high-tech touch of technology in his costume. From adjustable eye slits to high-speed canvas launchers, to an interactive digital assistant in its mask, like the J.Has.A.V.I.S. by Tony Stark, this Spider-Man has the magic recipe to please the general public. From an aesthetic point of view, the set made by Stark further removes the design of the canvas and makes the eye slits smaller than they have ever been before.
Iron Spider
Peter Parker had the opportunity to learn much more about his Iron Spider costume in Avengers: Infinity War, as he saved his life as he fell back to earth after losing his breath at high altitude. Infinity War showed us how effective the outfit is in action, though, as Parker teamed up with Tony Stark, Dr. Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy to nearly defeat Thanos. The most notable additions to the Iron Spider costume are the extra spider-shaped arms that can be used, the metallic look (probably because it's made with the same titanium alloy as Iron Man's armor), gold accents, and backlit eye slits. Unfortunately, the set did not survive the Infinity Gauntlet, so it fell into dust with its wearer.
Spider-Man: Far from Home
In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter accepts that he will never become the next Iron Man. Peter Parker is not Tony Stark, and just realizing that you have to follow in Iron Man's footsteps helps Peter understand his role and responsibility as Spider-Man. Peter uses the technology at his disposal to create an upgraded version of Spider-Man's costume. The costume is customized for Peter's needs and with more features. This new costume allows Peter to adopt a completely new red and black color scheme. Copyright: Images used
