From July 18 to 22 in San Diego, California will be held the Comic Con. A gathering of fans of pop culture, cinema, series, anime, manga and others.A great event, often described as "geek", which still remains quite obscure for some.
No less than 130,000 people are expected this weekend in San Diego.
Founded in 1970 by Shel Dorf and a group of San Diego residents, it was originally known as the comic convention. Since then, Comic Con has become one of the must-see festivals "dedicated to pop culture," explains Pierre-Yves Binctin, the director of Comic Paris to HuffPost.
The event mainly reservedfor the world of American comics has spread over the years to all areas of entertainment without setting aside its major pillar, the Comics Books. There are also now cinema, video games, TV series and toys on very specific themes which are comics -superheroes-, science fiction and more recently heroic fantasy.
Many press conferences take place in particular with the actors and directors of the films and series who reveal a more about the future releases of the year.
For several days, visitors discover exclusive content on their favorite program -especially on the side of Marvel, DC Comics and Disney-, they also have the opportunity to meet the authors, cartoonists, scriptwriters and enjoy signing sessions. Many publishing houses are present as well as stands with collector's items. Most fans will reveal their cosplays (costumes made themselves) with the effigy of their favorite characters. A competition will also be organized to reward the best.
On this occasion, the Eisner Awards will be awarded, which reward comic book personalities for their works of the past year.
