For comic book connoisseurs, January is synonymous with BDM! And the new 2017-2018 vintage has just been released!
The BDM, for comic book collectors, is THE reference in terms of inventory and quotations. It is a real encyclopedic catalog that lists all comic books published in French. It was originally a supplement to the magazine Le Collectionneur de Bande Dessinées.
Created in 1979 by Michel Bera, Michel Denni and Philippe Mellot (BDM), it appears every year by Éditions de l'Amateur and is updated every two years.
For this new 2017-2018 vintage, the BDM lists all albums whose rating is higher than the purchase value, or series containing such an album. Two years ago, the book contained 130,000 albums!
The ratings published by the BDM are given as an indication, they are established by experts from UNECO (International Union of Experts in Specialized Collections) and collectors.
Publications are listed alphabetically by series or unit, accompanied by a commentary, description or criticism and any reference number. It lists any reissue as a modified reprint. The interest and complexity of the Tintin albums, for example, is part of a separate color section.
The twenty-first publication of the BDM, Treasures of the Comic Strip, is available from all good booksellers (and elsewhere!) for an indicative price of 39€.
