This week, we have two escape games for you to discover. The first of virtual adventure remains in the theme of virtual reality. Do not panic for those worried about technology: the second of locked up is classic in principle, but not in its execution.
Virtual adventure: a captivating experience
Located right in the shopping center of the square senart, virtual adventure is a virtual reality escape that opened on October 25. This escape offers you to spend 35 minutes in a virtual universe of the most realistic.
From the first steps taken in the lobby, this escape projects you into its universe: as soon as you enter, you are presented to a futuristic and sanitized décor of the most beautiful effect. The feeling of being in another world is almost immediate and particularly refreshing.
Once past the lobby, you are brought into an airlock, separated into two teams and are equipped with a virtual reality headset and harnessed to various sensors that even if slightly annoying initially, disappear quickly once you enter the room.
As soon as the virtual reality is on, the magic begins! The various sensors make it possible to digitize an avatar that responds to the second to all your movements, so much so that this avatar very quickly becomes an extension of your body.
The virtual reality experience is bluffing, the scenery is beautiful and you can lose yourself in their contemplation. These are so realistic that despite the fact that you are aware of being in a virtual universe, you will still take care to avoid the various barriers, obstacles and pits that line your path.
True, we tried at one point to cross the different walls and balance in the void to test the limits of the room, but first of all, know that we are not good human beings, and it was only towards the end of the experience that this idea appeared to us.
The puzzles are varied and require real cooperation between the different participants, a plus for players looking for a real challenge within their escape.
Only small downside: although the sets are at the limit of perfection (we are very far from the uncanny valley), those are sometimes quite empty and lack accessories to handle. However, since the room is constantly evolving, this problem will most certainly be corrected very soon, and the frugality in the interactive elements does not in any way reduce the interest of the experience.
The team and I had a great half hour, and we think this experience will appeal to escape or virtual reality enthusiasts.
The white room: an escape game that will push you to your limits
If technology scares you and you prefer to manipulate objects with your own hands…Well, this room isn't really for you, sorry.
The second room we were able to try is also located in the senart square, in the locked up premises.
Locked is with virtual adventure, a family escape game project quite different from classic escapes: Here, you are not locked up 60 minutes but 75. In addition, all the rooms (except the white room) are original products extremely detailed and created with passion.
The white room comes straight from Budapest and we will forgive the locked up team for having borrowed an existing concept when we see the quality of the escape in question.
This room is rather atypical: the key to your exit is visible from the first step taken in the room and… That's about it: the walls are white, the paintings are white, the decorations are white, the clothes are white (yes, we had followed the dress-code, we are motivated to this point). The room is extremely bare and has very few clues, the focus is on thinking and solving puzzles.
Despite the apparent bareness of the room, it requires a very detailed search and you will be surprised by the amount of objects that can be hidden in a room at first sight devoid of any decoration.
The atypical character of this room adds a complexity that will appeal to experienced escape game players, with only 10% success only people with the sharpest reasoning and logic skills!
With the team, we greatly appreciated both experiences, and we strongly advise to do and redo virtual adventure in order to take full advantage of the two experiences available and to fully explore the smallest details that you could possibly miss during your first course!
