Sega has just announced the arrival in Europe of Yakuza Kiwami 2 on PS4, the remake of Yakuza 2 released on PS2 in 2006.
More than 10 years separate them, but Yakuza 2 and its remake Yakuza Kiwami 2 tell the same story. A year after the events of the first game, Kazuma Kiryu is now retired from the Yakuza world. His old life will still catch up with him, and Dujima's dragon will find himself embroiled in an unprecedented gang war.
If you've played Yakuza Kiwami, you'll suspect that the game engine isn't the only change you'll find since Yakuza 2. Indeed, the Ryu Ga Gotoku studio included a lot of interesting new features to its remake. But, since we are talking about engine, we can not forget to mention the Dragon Engine, already used for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (expected in France for April 17).
As usual, mini games will be part of the game. Kazuma will be able to indulge in Golf Bingo (another trick that will require us to develop Asian skills to platinum the game…) and the arcade game Virtual on. You can also find the cabaret of Yakuza 0 and the clan creator system, a game mode offering to organize tactical battles that you can discover in Yakuza 6.
But, above all, you will be able to discover a unique campaign centered on Goro Majima. You will be able to play Majima again, which has not been possible since Yakuza 0. Instead, Kiwami had introduced the " Majima Everywhere" which was rather aptly named, as you could be attacked by Shimano's mad dog absolutely everywhere, and even a little too often (coming out of a manhole, a trash can, transvestite, etc…).
To the delight of fans, Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be available in France on August 28. In the meantime, you can still check out the official Yakuza Experience website which recalls the chronology of the series. If you are interested, a dossier on the series was made a few years ago when the future of localization in Europe was still quite uncertain.
