Vivendi, the CANAL group and ESL plan to create the first official esports leagues in France!
Discussions are underway with publishers for the selection of the various games covered by the ESL championships. These unprecedented national leagues will be an opportunity for French pro gamers to reveal themselves and compete against the best international teams in competitions organized around the world by ESL and publisher partners. ESL is the leading company in the organization of esports tournaments with more than 12,000 online events and more than 36 in stadiums that can accommodate thousands of people.
The CANAL Group and ESL are also joining forces to promote esports and its development in France by co-organizing major international events as part of the world's largest circuit. The objective is to consolidate the place of the France as an inevitable stage of the world esports circuit and give a new breath to the French esports community.
Vivendi will be an important support in this process with Universal Music Group, Dailymotion and its activities in the organization of live events such as L'Olympia and Digitick. This commitment with ESL marks a turning point in the involvement of the CANAL group. CANAL is already a sponsor of Team Vitality, one of the best French professional teams.
The CANAL Group also announced the creation on its channel of CANAL ESPORTS CLUB, a new magazine dedicated to the world of esports and its stars. An event documentary dedicated to esports, Game Fever, will be broadcast in prime time on the channel on October 26.
The CANAL Group will also be present at Paris Games Week from 27 to 31 October.
