Leaked last Friday on the Microsoft Store, Star Wars: Squadrons was officially revealed on Monday. Electronic Arts, Motive Studios and Lucasfilm will invite fans of the Jedi saga to pilot ships in an experience like no other. Star Wars: Squadrons was developed by Canadian studio EA Motive with the Frostbite engine. The game will feature a single-player mode to relive the events following the Battle of Endor, according to the alternating points of view of pilots from the New Republic and the Empire. 5vs5 first-person multiplayer battles in familiar locations and new ones will be available. The events of the game will take place after those of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

Dogfights will be in the spotlight

The game developed by EA Motive will focus solely on air (and space) combat. Gamers will be able to put themselves in command of an X-wing on the rebel side or a TIE ship on the empire side. Star Wars: Squadrons will be played in first-person view only. The game will feature an interesting multiplayer mode as well as a single-player campaign. The Dogfight mode is the equivalent of a Team Deathmatch where each ship destroyed increases your team's score. Fleet Battles, on the other hand, require the destruction of the enemy flagship. EA has mentioned the presence of some new areas such as Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan. Star Wars: Squadrons will be released on October 2 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and Origin), PS4 and Xbox One for €39.99. Note that in order to ensure total immersion, the game will also be compatible with virtual reality (VR) peripherals on PC and PlayStation. EA will showcase its gameplay during EA Play Live 2020, to be followed on June 19 at 1am.
