Razer, the leading brand in the gaming peripherals market, allocates $30 million to cutting-edge technology sectors with the creation of Zventures. Big data, virtual reality, IoT, robotics and Android games will be affected.
zVentures, a dedicated arm of Razer, is born. It will aim to identify and exploit investment and financing opportunities for new and innovative companies and emerging technologies. "Razer has a long history of supporting partners, launching third-party products and business development. " said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO of Razer. "The cumulative benefits of these initiatives over the past decade have been very positive and significant. zVentures promises to significantly advance our actions in these emerging businesses, both in terms of their audiences and in terms of impact."
Razer plans to dedicate $30 million to zVentures. 5 million will be devoted to investments in virtual reality including funding for content development (under the OSVR Development Fund) and 5 million for investment and publishing of Android games (under the control of OUYA Publishing).zVentures is interested in early-stage investments from companies specializing in the Internet of Things, software and analytics including big data, advanced engineering and production, gaming-related software; virtual reality and augmented reality, eSports and robotics.
The beneficiary companies will be able to operate perfectly independently and work with other industry partners, manufacture products that are not related to gaming and seek third-party investments.
" In short, we are attracted to emerging companies with massive growth and improvement opportunities that can leverage our experience and expertise.Tan explains. "Our contributions may include logistics management, sales and marketing, capital or any other requests.
