Playstation recently announced that its subscriptions are going to be updated. Indeed, Sony wants to align its offers with those offered by Microsoft, including Xbox Game Pass. But what will it change? We explain everything to you! Three new offers will be released: Essential, Extra and Premium ! No official launch date has been announced. However, the Japanese firm says that the first changes will be made as early as June 2022. The rollout will not be worldwide at the same time. Indeed, Europeans will be able to benefit from these new changes after Asia and North America.
The different subscriptions
PlayStation Plus Essential
This offer is priced at the same price as the current PlayStation Plus subscription. This will allow players who do not wish to adhere to the new features to keep a subscription at a "lower" price. This subscription is therefore priced at € 8.99 per month / € 24.99 per quarter / € 59.99 per year. The offer contains:
- Two downloadable games each month
- Exclusive discounts
- Storage of backups in the cloud
- Access to online multiplayer
PlayStation Plus Extra
This offer is priced at €13.99 per month / €39.99 per quarter / €99.99 per year. In addition to the benefits of the Essential offer, PS Plus Extra includes access to a catalog of 400 downloadable PS4/PS5 games.
PlayStation Plus Premium
And finally, the "ultimate" subscription of Playstation! Priced at €16.99 per month / €49.99 per quarter / €119.99 per year, this subscription obviously takes over the advantages of the previous two. But that's not all! Indeed, in addition to all this, you will be able to enjoy access to 340 PS3 games available for streaming and PS1/PS2/PSP games available for streaming and download.That's a total of 740 games available, which represents hundreds of hours of games on all your favorite games. The opportunity also to discover very good games that you are not even aware of! For those who have questions, we remind you that for the old offers, the PS Plus was at 59.99e/year and the PS Now at 59.99e/year, for a total of 119.98e/year. This new offer will only cost you 1cts more.
And what happens to current subscriptions?
Well, rest assured, if you currently have the PS plus, your subscription will migrate directly to the Essential version. For those who have subscribed to PS Now, you will benefit directly from the Playstation Plus Premium offer. But what about Playstation Studio games?
A big announcement not to be missed, Playstation studio games will all be available, except for the latest novelties like Elden Ring or Horizon Forbidden West.
