After Death Stranding and the Metal Gear Solid saga, a total change of atmosphere for Hideo Kojima who announces that he wants to make a game with a horror atmosphere. While he has just won the Bafta Games Awards grant, the famous video game designer has expressed his desire to create new projects. This time, it would be a horror game. This is not the first time Kojima has referred to this genre. He announced that he wanted to create the scariest game of all time when Death Stranding was released.
A strange demo
It is still difficult to get more information about Kojima's next work. However, we can easily imagine a resurgence of Silent Hills. This attempt to update the cult license with a strange demo appeared on August 12, 2014 on the PlayStation Store under the name PT. It featured Norman Reedus in an extremely frightening and unhealthy atmosphere. Unfortunately, following Kojima's dismissal from Konami, the project was aborted, leaving the conquered players in mourning. It was obvious then that the creator of Metal Gear Solid would return to talking about this abandoned project.
"PT is special. Human fear ultimately stems from the unknown. PT was an experiment destined to produce an effect in response to this nature. So the reaction was what was expected – we can say it was a hit as a teaser. PT was mysterious, created by a mysterious studio, without announcements or prior information, so he used forbidden techniques to increase fear. It was something unique, so we can't use that method again."
Kojima then returned to his desire not to give up the horror genre by simply revealing a few words:
"I'm easily scared myself, so I'm convinced that maybe I could create something more terrifying than the others. I'm afraid of things like darkness and I imagine shadows of ghosts in the dark. Just like Hitchcock or Spielberg. P.T. was just an experiment, but I would like to make another horror game one day. Something that uses a revolutionary method to create terror, that doesn't just make you pee in your pants, but c**** in it. I already have ideas in my head."
Hideo Kojima can be trusted to present ambitious and innovative projects. On the other hand, let him not embarrass the players… because with the Coronavirus pandemic, there may be a shortage of toilet paper…
Silent Hills, that was it!
