The publisher Daum Games Europe B.V, responsible for the distribution of the Black Desert Online mmorpg in North America and Europe, changes its name to Kakao Games Europe B.V.
Kakao Games Europe B.V. is the nerve centre of the company's international expansion. This desire to change the name of Daum Games is explained by the desire to establish the company within Kakao Corporation, its parent company. It's also a way to bolster Kakao's weight in the video game industry with upcoming titles on PC, mobile, consoles and virtual reality headsets.
Black Desert Online, which has been noted for its advanced customization system, will still be managed by Kakao Games Europe B.V. Kakao Games will continue its partnership with the Pearl Abyss studio with the aim of expanding its service with new content such as the huge Valencia expansion whose first part was launched on June 29.
In addition to the announcement of a name change for Daum Games, Kakao Games USA has just been launched and is currently preparing the launch of services in the North American market.
