Soon, Netflix will release Damien Chazelle's (La La Land, Whiplash) first series, The Eddy. It will be a musical drama fiction, set in a Parisian setting. This series will tell us about the reconversion of a former New York jazz pianist, Elliot Udo (Andre Holland, Moonlight). Now boss of The Eddy club, he conducts an orchestra where Maja (Joanna Kulig, Cold War) performs with whom he has more or less a relationship. Meanwhile, his associate Farid (Tahar Rahim, A Prophet) seems to be involved in dubious affairs while his wife, Amira (Leila Bekhti, All That Glitters) ignored him. Elliot's life is turned a little more upside down by the arrival of his daughter Julie (Amandla Stenberg, Hunger Games). Thus, he finds himself having to save his club from bankruptcy and protect his loved ones.

A multicultural series

This new series is therefore multicultural, entirely shot in the French capital. The actors performed in French, English and Arabic, following this desire thanks to a cast of all nationalities. Both actors – French, Polish, American – and directors came from all walks of life. This first season will have eight episodes, the first two of which were directed by Damien Chazelle. We will also find Houda Benyamina directing (Divines), Alan Poul, producer of Six Feet Under, or singer Benjamin Biolay. If before the release of The Eddy, you want to immerse yourself in the musical universe of Damien Chazelle, it will be possible to see (or rewatch) La La Land on YouTube on Friday, May 1st legally. American studios Lionsgate will put online some of their greatest hits, to appease confined moviegoers. All episodes of The Eddy will be available on May 8 on Netflix.
