Rare phenomenon that a Netflix series canceled after its first season. This is unfortunately the situation of The Get Down, the series of Baz Luhrmann, which was officially canceled last Thursday.
Serial friendsphiles and music lovers, you can let your tears flow. The sounds of the Bronx will no longer reach your ears because The Get Down, a Netflix series that had liked a lot at its release, officially stops at the end of its first season. The second part of this season was released on April 7, leaving a chance for the series to continue. But for once, it's rather missed …
But fear not, dear fans, it's not your fault if the series doesn't continue. The problem comes from the busy schedule of its director, Baz Luhrmann, who had to postpone his work on a film project to two years to make this series. A choice he now seems to regret. He has indeed sent a message to fans of The Get Down from his Facebook page in which he clearly explains the reasons for the abandonment of the series and the sincere regret he has to stop this project.
"But the truth is, I make movies. And the thing about movies is, when you make them, there can't be anything else in your life."
We can easily imagine, fans of The Get Down did not take the news very well. The cancellation of the series was among the most discussed topics on Twitter in France on Thursday and Netflix was criticized for following up on other series – including 13 Reasons Why and Riverdale – and abandoning here an exceptional series.

Deep down, we live in the hope of seeing a revival of a sequel to the series. Maybe by another director? It seems pretty unlikely, but after all, hope makes you live! The only season of The Get Down is available in its entirety on Netflix.
