With the multiplication of platforms, the offer is more and more substantial. Despite the pandemic that has been raging for 2 years, the year 2021 has been rich in interesting outings. Like the other newsrooms, we wanted to share with you our best series of 2021. Discover our favorites present on Disney +, Prime video, Apple TV or Netflix. Morgane: Ginny & Georgia on Netflix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6AA_8Wfl5E The Netflix series, Ginny & Georgia, is the story of a free-spirited thirty-year-old, Georgia (Brianne Howey), and her 15-year-old daughter with a more mature character, Ginny (Antonia Gentry). As for the plot, a lot happens there (flashbacks to Georgia's unhappy childhood, fraud, seduction of the mayor, blackmail, love interests of Ginny between the bad boy Marcus (Felix Mallard) and the nice and reliable Hunter (Mason Temple). Despite its share of clichés, this series convinced me thanks to its lightness and it may do the same for you! Emilie: The Witcher Season 2 on Netflix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeawUY7G5Q4 One of the must-sees of this end of 2021 is probably season 2 of The Witcher! If the first season could be particularly difficult to follow because of its non-linear temporality, the sequel this time bet on linearity. Thus, this temporality made the events and their issues easier to understand, while making you want to discover the rest of each episode. With a good cast with Henry Cavill at its head, this second season has recruited new actors, such as Graham McTavish (Outlander, Lucifer) and Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones). If most of the secondary characters are unfortunately not (or little) developed, one of the strengths of the series lies in the duo Geralt-Cirilla, whose bond is solidified over the episodes. If you haven't seen season 2 of the fantasy series yet, don't hesitate!   Charlotte: WandaVision on Disney + https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c56m7ZTXhvQ Marvel hit hard in 2021 with the first series of Phase 4: Wandavision. The series takes the codes of famous sitcoms, such as My Beloved Witch or Modern Family. She crosses the eras while following the fashion and decors of the 50s to the present day by moving from black and white to color. This original concept where we follow the evolution of the relationship of Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), supposed to be dead since his confrontation against Thanos, has seduced but also intrigued. Indeed, we feel, from the first episode a tension, this world is too good to be true and something is brewing behind this perfect sitcom story. This feeling is amplified as the episodes go through until the denouement. Wandavision then allows us to know more about the MCU after Endgame and already teases Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness scheduled for May 2022.   MC: LOKI on Disney + https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYpS70gCsvw With a phase 4 that started in force level series between Wandavision or Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki has definitely stood out this year with a retro aesthetic and a scenario worthy of the Marvel universe. We find our favorite anti-hero of the MCU, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in the hands of TVA, an organization whose objective is to protect the sacred Timeline and prevent temporal discrepancies. With endearing characters like Mobius (Owen Wilson) but also new with Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), the series has understood how to play with our emotions throughout the 6 episodes. Loki stands out for its strong themes, revolving around free will or the question of good and evil, contrasting sharply with the other series so far proposed by Marvel. The series is also a striking soundtrack perfectly accompanying the development of the series. In short, Loki was able to keep us in suspense with each episode and especially allowed us to discover a little more the multiverse and phase 4 of the MCU which promises to be amazing!   Lucille : My friend Adele on Netflix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNJZCr1LteU A mysterious and frightening setting, tortured and imperfect characters, and a pinch of magic: these are the ingredients of the superb mini-series "My friend Adele" (Behind her eyes in English) on Netflix. This psychological thriller with an almost unbearable pace manages to make us hold our breath throughout the six episodes that compose it. Based on the famous book of the same name, this fiction will delight any audience in search of thrills and 360-degree twists. The story? Louise (Simona Brown), a single mother, starts a business with her employer psychiatrist David (Tom Bateman) while secretly becoming friends with his wife Adele (Eve Hewson). The young woman then begins a dangerous game with this charismatic and warm couple. But the deeper their relationships become, the more the masks are skinned… To end up letting the dark truth appear in the light of day. I found this series sensational. Every detail is an essential brick of the story, and the outcome produces the effect of a real slap. The actors are brilliant, and the special effects more than successful. Without a doubt one of the best productions of the year 2021. To watch urgently!  Marine: Dopesick on Disney + https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idIQ2SG0078 You must have heard about the opioid scandal in the United States in the 90s. Not? Then it's time to get up to speed! Dopesick tells us how an American company led to the biggest overdose wave we've ever seen. In a format that takes us back in time, this mini-series brilliantly tells everyone's point of view. The company that pushes its sales representatives to sell the drug to doctors. The latter who propose them to the victims as well as their reactions to this new miracle. The police case shows the difficulties of this wave that has affected the United States. Adapted from the book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America, written by Beth Macy, and with a not insignificant cast like Michael Keaton, the series will plunge you into the heart of the drug that has most affected this power: Oxycodone. Do not wait any longer and go look at the case that plunged the United States into dependence.  Alex: Foundation on Apple TV, a reference in science fiction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crauWXoNykw It took the talent of an artist like David S. Goyer (associated with Josh Friedman) to adapt a work as substantial as Foundation, a reference work by Isaac Asimov. Like any adaptation, the series divides. For some lovers of the original work, it is a betrayal. Additions have been made to suit a wide audience. We will think of some romantic relationships that are in no way an added value for the story. The history of the Foundation cycle spans several centuries. The author succeeds brilliantly in getting us interested in all of his protagonists. The showrunners of the series make a drastic choice by limiting themselves to a much smaller chronology. The choices to focus on the cloning of the empire, the exploited technologies that place us in a more contemporary story, are some strong points of the series. The richness of the sets, the perfectly orchestrated soundtrack in line with each element of the plot as well as some actors like Lee Pace absolutely prodigious in the role of the adult emperor make Foundation my favorite of the year 2021.
