Warner has just released 4 DVDs of the third season of The 100, broadcast on the American channel CW in 2016. Composed of 16 episodes, this season is an opportunity to find our favorite characters facing new challenges…
The season
The third season of The 100 begins three months after the events of Mount Weather. Camp Jaha was renamed Arkadia and expanded. Clarke (Eliza Taylor) hides from the rest of the world, haunted by the genocide she perpetrated. She is sought after by the natives who see in her Wanheda, the Commander of Death. By killing her, they think they will get her powers back. Nia (Brenda Strong), the queen of the Ice Nation, stands out as a new threat to peace between peoples. Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) and Lincoln (Ricky Whittle) are still in a relationship but tensions arise. Jaha (Isaiah Washington) and Murphy (Richard Harmon) are still in the City of Light, discovered at the end of the second season. Jasper (Devon Bostick) does not recover from Maya's death while Bellamy (Bob Morley) is still searching for Clarke.
After an explosive second season and a finale that reshuffled the cards, this third season launches new intrigues about the fate of the survivors of the Ark. The discovery of the City of Lights will be one of the major challenges of this season. To our delight, the episodes are of good quality and advance the plot, despite a middle of the season a little sluggish.
This is an opportunity to meet new faces, like Nia (Brenda Strong) and Nyko (Ty Olsson) but also to say goodbye to some characters present since the first episode.
The box set
The third season of The 100 in DVD box set is delivered in a cardboard sheath inside which is a plastic case where the four DVDs are stored. The cover takes up one of the promotional images of the series by presenting the character of Clarke, from behind, looking at an apocalyptic landscape tinged with gray from which we discern the tower of Polis. The back of the box presents seven images of the season featuring the main characters as well as a presentation text:
In season 3, the survivors find a planet visibly at peace. But this state of grace is short-lived: their lives are about to be turned upside down forever. Get ready for 16 epic adventures where old and new threats test survivors' loyalty, push their limits, and force them to question the true meaning of humanity.
On the disc side, we find an identical navigation menu, with the possibility of viewing the episodes in three languages: French, English or Spanish. Inside the plastic case, you can find the names of the episodes in English. A downside all the same, the box is bilingual, both French and Dutch. For collectors, this could be embarrassing even if it seems to be becoming fashionable at Warner.

The visual quality of this third season of The 100 is pretty good. The image is sharp and the contrasts stand out well, even for night scenes. The slight grain of the image fits perfectly to the dirty universe that the series offers us.
On the audio side, the editor offers three choices. The most fans of you will not hesitate to rediscover the episodes in original version as the quality is present. The proposed sound is of good quality and restores in a beautiful way the particular universe of the series.
In conclusion, these 16 episodes of season 3 of The 100 continue the adaptation of Kass Morgan's novels by moving away from the basic material. Action, combat and adventure await you once again with Clarke and her friends. Warner offers us a nice 4 DVD box, with a quality image and sound. The downside comes from the box itself, which is Franco-Dutch, a habit increasingly present at the publisher. On the bonus side, it's flawless! Recommended to fans and neophytes with their eyes closed!
