After the powerful conclusion offered by season 2 of Star Wars Rebels, fans were eagerly awaiting the first images of Star Wars rebels season 3. Good news: here they are. This week was unveiled the first trailer of the TV show and the least we can say is that there is food and drink in this first trailer.
First we have the presentation of the new looks of the two main characters, Kanan and Ezra. The first seems to have made himself blind and now sports the long beard typical of many Jedi masters. In addition, the blindness of the character seems to play a key role in the adventures of our heroes, which we could anticipate in view of the conclusion with fanfare of season 2.
For his part, Ezra abandoned his long hair looking like a young rebel to make way for a shorter and very strict cut, highlighting a new maturity of the boy. It also seems that the young Padawan has become more confident about his fighting abilities and his relationship to strength. However, beware of what it could become!
Indeed, following his meeting with Darth Maul during the last episodes of Star Wars Rebels season 2, Ezra found himself seduced by the dark side of the force, to the point of being able to open a holocron reserved for the Sith. Other meetings with Darth Maul are also to be expected, since the latter is present in this new trailer.
But the highlight of this trailer is undoubtedly the arrival of a major character from the old expanded universe: the terrifying Admiral Thrawn! This shrewd strategist is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous elements of the Empire. Highly intelligent, this imperial officer is renowned for studying the arts of different species, in order to predict their behavior.
"You have to learn the art, captain. When you understand the art of a species, it is the species that you understand. Thrawn. The heir to the empire.
This should delight fans of the former expanded universe that was removed by Disney and renamed "Legends of Star Wars". The revival of Admiral Thrawn is undoubtedly a good initiative since it denotes an intention of Disney not to want to totally remove the snippets of the old expanded universe, which still remains today a mine of creativity and talent.
Moreover, it seems that Admiral Thrawn was not taken over solely for exhibition or fan service, since his characteristics as a fine strategist and art expert have already been exposed. Moreover, the rebels seem particularly fearful of this threat. We can therefore deduce that Thrawn will have a key role in what will be season 3 of Star Wars Rebels.
We only have to hope for a release soon of this season 3 whose exact date has not yet been announced, and especially that it will live up to our expectations.
