Stalk is a French miniseries by Simon Bouisson, Jean-Charles Paugam and Victor Rodenbach. It is produced by France TV Slash and broadcast on their platform as well as on their mobile application since March 11, 2020. The main theme of this teen-drama remains the stalking. It is the fact of monitoring someone's actions and gestures, or even harassing them, especially via social networks or the Internet in general. Here the stalker is an engineering school student, his name is Lucas and he uses hacking to gain access to cameras on phones and computers.

An amazing cast and characters

In terms of casting, we can say that we were surprised. In main actor, Theo Fernandez aka Lux the stalker. You probably know him thanks to his role as Donald, the studious student, in Les Tuches. A very different role here since he plays a computer genius who studies at ENSI (National Education of Computer Science). However, he will find himself stalking in the space of a few months thousands of people. Following a hazing during the integration weekend of his school by one of the members of the BDE (Student Office), he decides to destroy the life of the one who humiliated him by hacking him and his relatives. But his revenge will not go as he had planned. This person is Alex, played by Pablo Cobo an aspiring actor unknown to the general public. He plays the rich bad boy on campus in a roommate with his friends Samir and Lolo. He is in a relationship with Margot but we quickly learn that he has a soft spot for his best friend: Alma. Alma, a rebellious student who can no longer stand her cohabitation with her mother. Its actress is Carmen Kassovitz, the daughter of the famous director and actor Mathieu Kassovitz. This is one of her first appearances as an actress and she did not disappoint. Stalk: the new scary web series made in France

An addictive series that makes us think

Stalking has become a very common method in our society, we are all more or less stalkers, with social networks like Instagram or Facebook, it has become very simple to monitor someone's life remotely. This seems quite harmless, yet the series points the finger at this kind of behavior especially when it becomes dangerous for others. As we already know from Edward Snowden and the film looking back on his life, we are watched everywhere, all the time. We understand here that it is not only the big intelligence agencies that can spy on us. Even a young computer science student with a knack for coding is able to use it to stalk to us. Paranoid or realistic? This is the question, this series remains a fiction. It is nevertheless very credible especially by the computer terms of coding used during the episodes. In addition, the secondary themes addressed in the series such as cyber-bullying, drugs or even more simply integration into a school, are topical and allow a real identification with the characters by the spectators. The only tool needed for Lux to hack is a simple computer, which makes the mechanism even more nerve-wracking.

A sequel planned?

For now the doubt hangs over a potential season 2. In view of the end of the first season, a sequel would be possible. We are looking forward to the verdict, in the meantime we leave you with the first episode of season 1 which is available on YouTube. Hope you enjoy this series as much as we do!
