While season 2 was released just a few weeks ago, the bad news came a few hours ago: there will be no season 3 for Sense8.
Unfortunately, this is a question that has been asked for several months and has now found a sad answer. This is the end for Sense8. This Netflix series has had a somewhat mixed success since its beginnings : admired for its plot and its treatment of sensitive or even taboo subjects, criticized for its difficulty of access, the series has had ups and downs in the critics. Today, while season 2 was broadcast on Netflix on May 5, fans feared more than anything that these episodes were nothing but a final goodbye to the eight protagonists of the series… Rightly so. Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix, made the fateful announcement on June 1 in the early evening:
After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the circle of sensitives has come to an end. The series was everything we and the fans dreamed of: bold, emotional, beautiful and simply unforgettable. Never has such a global series existed, with such a diverse and international cast and crew, a diversity that can be found in the highly connected community of passionate fans around the world.
For a few days already, frightened fans were defending the series and had begun a campaign for season 3 of Sense8 to see the light of day via the creation of the hashtag #RenewSense8. Fans of the series on Twitter shared this hashtag in turn, praising the qualities they find in the series: cinematic quality, messages of tolerance, an incredible plot, an extraordinary cast, etc. Netflix has taken a hit in passing, suffering criticism from Internet users on the choices of renewed series – as for the cancellation of The Get Down, seriesphiles do not understand why series considered "more commercial" like Riverdale or 13 Reasons Why are renewed and deeper and aesthetically exceptional series are sidelined.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. Sensates forever. pic.twitter.com/SClwiY3rwy

It's a huge disappointment for Sense8 fans to know this series is over. The end of season 2 left a lot of questions open as to the fate of the sensitive and it is more than disappointing to know that we will probably never have answers to all our questions. Netflix also didn' t give a specific explanation for canceling the series, but most rumors claim that these costs are too high.
Many thanks to the Wachowski sisters for the wonder that was Sense8. Even though it will never end, this series is worth seeing for the many messages of tolerance and love it carries, as well as its spectacular aesthetic. The two (unique) seasons of Sense8 are available on Netflix.
