We announced it on January 29, Riverdale will push the song in season 2!Riverdale students stage Carrie: The Musical, but a member of the band will not sing.
This is Jughead, played by Cole Sprouse who became known thanks to Disney. Apparently, Cole Sprouse is not a big fan of the genre… This is explained by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the executive producer. Indeed, Cole Sprouse has never sung for Disney and does not intend to do so for Riverdale. Recall that Cole Sprouse grew up on Disney Channel with his brother in the series The Palace Life of Zack and Cody. Nevertheless, this refusal does not shock since it sticks to the character of Jughead in the series. (even if the character doesn't look like the one in the comics).Aguirre-Sacasa, the showrunner, explains:
"When we really thought about the character of Jughead, we thought he probably wouldn't be in the musical. When you see the episode, you'll see that he's still really part of it, that he's doing something very Jughead during the musical. Except he doesn't sing. »
Cole Sprouse's aversion to singing also extends to real life. Aguirre-Sacasa recalls that at Riverdale's launch party, every cast member sang. All the parents, all the children, all the members of the team sang… except Cole. So we will never see Cole Sprouse singing in a series or in a movie! However, we can still admire him in the role of Jughead Jones.
Riverdale currently airs Wednesdays on the CW.
