Netflix unveils a first trailer for the next series by Ryan Murphy and Evan Romansky: Ratched. The streaming giant's new production will be released on September 18.

A new psychological thriller in the Murphy universe

With the recent successes of The Politician or Hollywood, Netflix and director Ryan Murphy seem to form the perfect tandem. They continue their collaboration with Ratched, a new drama series in 8 episodes, of which they reveal the first trailer. The Ratched series is a prequel to the famous film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) directed by Milos Forman.

It follows the life of the cult nurse Mildred Ratched. To play the lead role, Ryan Murphy opted for his sidekick of always, the actress Sarah Paulson. She will play alongside Judy Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Charlie Carver, Jon Jon Briones and Sharon Stone.

The first trailer, resembling American Horror Story, presages a dramatic and psychological thriller, which tells over time, how the nurse became a real monster.

In 1947, at a psychiatric hospital in Northern California, Mildred Ratched worked as a nurse. Yet seemingly irreproachable, Nurse Ratched performs questionable brain experiments and even more… Indeed, she turns out to be a real murderess. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sarah Paulson said:

"It's kind of a contextualization of how Mildred Ratched became the woman we know in the film and the book. […] Ratched is a kind of meditation on someone's psychological strengths and weaknesses."

The series that will be released soon will have a season 2, since Netflix has made an order for two parts. Enough to make our mouths water!

See you on September 18 to discover the new series on Netflix. Note that Sarah Paulson and Ryan Murphy will still meet for other projects. The long-awaited third season of American Crime Story and tenth season of American Horror Story are set to be released in 2021.
