Less than a year after the release of his album Civilisation, Orelsan adds 10 new tracks to complete an album already completed and validated by the critics. The rapper from Caen is taking a risk with this reissue, as the original project has broken records. An unexpected reissue that is already talking about her and echoes her brother's documentary. In this 1st part, we will come back to the genesis of the album and its reissue, then in a 2nd part, we will analyze and give you our feelings about these 10 new songs.  On October 27, it is not yet 9 pm and the concert of Orelsan at the Zenith of Caen will begin. After thanking the group that heated the room, the Caen group 3pour100, the rapper announces to his audience that they will be able to listen to a preview of Civilisation Ultimate Edition, while the album will only be available on platforms at midnight.

An unexpected reissue

With more than 500,000 albums sold in less than five months, Orelsan's fourth album has become the fastest diamond record in French rap history. Of what, already turn the head, as this figure seems incredible. A success confirmed also live, the one that set fire to the Bercy de Ninho filled the halls with his tour, the proof with the three concerts in Paris la Défense Arena, with more than 40,000 people on each date. https://www.instagram.com/p/CgRVZWpoEsV/?hl=fr However, the rapper releases a reissue of the album, this Friday, October 28. Documentary as a promo

On October 15, 2021, the first episode of the documentary series Never Show That to No One aired on the video-on-demand platform Prime Video. A series of 6 episodes created by Clément Cotentin, who is the brother of the rapper and Christophe Offenstein. It traces Orelsan's career, from his beginnings 20 years earlier to the success of his latest album La fête est finie, in 2017. Through his brother's camera, we were able to follow the artist and his friends Skread, Ablaye and Gringe progress in the world of rap. The album Civilisation will be released a month later. A year has passed since the end of season 1, which was a hit. We then find Orelsan, his brother and his acolytes, for a second season of the documentary series. A season 2, which includes 4 episodes and tells the 2 years of creation of the album Civilisation.  Orelsan-Never Show That to Anyone Part 2 It all began, in April 2020, in full confinement, when Orelsan decided to retreat to Caen in order to create some models for his new album. The starting point is a rather vague concept: destroy in order to rebuild better. But, apart from the concept, inspiration is slow to come.

White sheet and first model

This documentary allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the artist's creative process. We witness the rapper's search for inspiration, which is a real job, but he does not let himself be defeated, despite doubts, desires to stop, questioning and various adventures. The artist then reveals himself quite vulnerable in front of the blank sheet. It is also an opportunity to discover excerpts from drafts of pieces made solo by Orelsan. Models that will have to be validated, by his friends Ablaye and Skread, at the end of confinement, which is not won … The confinement lifted, the opinion of his acolytes falls. The drafts are not retained by the two collaborators. The album then returns to ground zero, when we learn a scoop, the recording of a song featuring the artist Adèle is planned. Finally, after seeking inspiration from Paris in Mexico City and Brittany in Miami, especially to record a featuring with Pharell Williams, Orelsan gives us the album Civilisation that we know. After a record-breaking album, Orelsan adds 10 new tracks to Civilisation as a reissue. We were able to follow the process of creating the album through the documentary series "Never Show That to Anyone". But you will have to read the second part of this article to have an analysis of the reissue and know if finally the featuring with Adèle was born or if it joined the drafts have not retained.
