This Tuesday, July 14, the SVOD platform unveiled the first information about its new French series . It will focus on one of the bloodiest periods in our history. The Revolution will be led by a young French showrunner: Aurélien Molas, co-creator of the award-winning series Une Île at the Séries Mania festival in Lille in 2019. His new series looks promising and augurs a fantastic angle, like his previous work.

Blue blood as a scourge

Indeed, spectators will follow the investigations of Joseph Guillotin from 1787 (whose name is surely familiar to you). This one, played by Amir El Kacem (Hippocrates, Kabul Kitchen), discovers a new virus: blue blood. This plague pushes the nobility to "murder the people", as Netflix says. Moreover, the attacks of the aristocracy are not without consequences, thus provoking the revolt. It is a rewriting of this great historical period that was unveiled on this national holiday. "Power to the 99%. Death to the 1%.", it is written on a background of blue blood and statue head cut off in the first teaser. However, this teaser remains relatively mysterious. Marilou Aussilloux (Élise de Montargis) The Revolution will have eight episodes of fifty minutes each. It will merge several genres, on the borders between thriller, historical and action. It would seem that Netflix does not aim to make a faithful adaptation of the period and rather relies on an uchrony. It may not please avid historians because of this choice, but is nevertheless an interesting promise halfway between historical rewriting and fantasy fiction. Amir El Kacem will be accompanied by Marilou Aussilloux (De Gaulle), as Élise de Montargis and Lionel Erdogan (Engrenages), for the role of Albert Guillotin. By far, La Révolution seems to be the most ambitious French Netflix creation to date. Subscribers will be able to discover this new series next October.
