Jigsaw is the new "non-linear" series signed Netflix with Rufus Sewell, Jai Courtney and Giancarlo Esposito, stars of this original thriller. Were you thinking of Saw..? Well, nothing to see! Despite its more than evocative title and its cast of psychopaths namely Rufus Sewell (Old), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and Jai Courtney (The Suicide Squad), Jigsaw will be an "innovative non-linear" action thriller. A puzzle in puzzle mode! On the synopsis side, the story will focus on the biggest heist ever attempted. Note that this will be loosely inspired by the real story of the $70 billion in bonds that disappeared in downtown Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy. Netflix tells us that the series consists of 8 episodes ranging from 24 hours before the heist to a year after. The narrative takes "a non-linear approach that builds plot and suspense in such a way that viewers have control." Thus, subscribers will be able to watch the first 7 episodes in the order of their choice. The eighth and final episode will make the connection and solve the puzzle. For information, this concept is not totally new since Paramount has already released a crime drama entitled Interrogation on its CBS All Access platform and which works on the same principle. On the directing side, Eric Garcia (Alexa & Katie) serves as creator/showrunner and Jose Padilha (Narcos) will direct the first two episodes. On the casting side, Giancarlo Esposito will play the boss, Leo Pap. Described as a "natural leader", Leo is intelligent, intense and motivated, with an engineering mind and meticulous attention to detail. He became a thief at a very young age and although he had a chance to get away with it, he could not stay away from criminal life. His relapse cost him his family and his freedom." We will also find Rufus Sewell who will play Roger Salas, "former thief who has reinvented himself as a leading security expert. Roger is a salesman with an uncanny ability to manipulate people for his ends." Jai Courtney will play Bob Goodwin, "a bloated alpha male with a knack for safety and people off. Bob is attractive enough to be a threat and smart enough to be dangerous to anyone who gets in his way… " Finally, Paz Vega will play Ava Mercer, "a lawyer by day, she is as comfortable at a gun stand or in a gallery as she is in a courtroom. A passionate soul who will do anything to protect the few people close to him."The rest of the cast will consist of Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay and Niousha Noor. For now, the release date of Jigsaw on the platform with the big red N is not known. We hope it will be easier to put the pieces of the serial killer puzzle together with this new Netflix creation!
