The American series How I Met Your Mother ended in March 2014 and she is terribly missed by her fans. But good news seems to be on the horizon: a spin-off is well and truly under discussion!
The idea had already been mentioned in May 2014 by CBS: to make a spin-off of the stories of Ted, Marshall, Lily, Robin and Barney, called How I Met Your Dad. Unfortunately, this project did not materialize when the channel was dissatisfied with the proposed pilot and therefore simply abandoned the idea. The project was therefore shelved, buried deep in the ground, until Isaac Aptacker and Elizabeth Berger, the writers and producers of the series This Is Us, landed and decided to take it out of the ground! According to Deadline magazine, How I Met Your Father is now being created!
The term spin-off is to be taken in the very broad sense here since How I Met Your Father should not take characters from the mother series How I Met Your Mother, but rather follow the same principle of narration: a group of people whose main character, who will be a woman this time, will explain how she met her companion. Original series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will executive produce the series, but it's unclear who else will be there! We know that Jason Segel, the interpreter of Marshall, would be willing to do something with the original series, but it is unlikely that we will find him in How I Met Your Father.
The script for the series is still being written, so it's too early to say if the spin-off will actually exist, or even if it will air on CBS, the channel of How I Met Your Mother.
If this spin-off is confirmed, we are almost sure that it will be "legen-(wait for it)-dary"!
