Amazon Prime releases this Friday, February 29, 2021 its new documentary mini-series "Generation Raw" on its Prime Video platform. In collaboration with the media Brut, the documentary mini-series is divided into five episodes presenting five current themes that animate debates in our contemporary society. The first series produced by Brut, "Génération Brut" will be broadcast in several French-speaking countries and territories, including Andorra, Monaco, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and DROM-COM.

Committed themes faithful to the image of Brut.

The documentary mini-series is therefore divided into five episodes. Each episode deals with a subject that is part of a certain social struggle in our society. Ecology, feminism, veganism, gender identity and theconception and representation of the notion of love. In addition, each episode begins with the introduction of an "ambassador" related to the theme respectively: François Gabart, Julie Gayet, Thierry Marx, Jean-Paul Gauthier and the influence Camille Aumont Carnel of the Instagram account @jemenbatsleclito. The 100% digital media Brut was founded in November 2016 by audiovisual professionals: Renaud Le Van Kim (former producer on Canal+), Guillaume Lacroix (co-founder of Studio Bagel), Roger Coste (former managing director of Canal+ advertising agencies) and Laurent Lucas (producer of La Boîte à questions on Canal+ and deputy editor-in-chief for Le Petit Journal). Renowned for its news videos, Brut draws its strength from the variety of its editorial offer. Indeed, the form of the editorial content of the media remains vast ranging from interviews in the form of testimonies, short decryption videos to longer formats approaching the format of the reportage type. The different formats often accompanied by rhythmic music and short and effective subtitles make it possible to bring dynamism to their videos, stimulate interest and capture the attention of Internet users. Broadcast then on social networks, on YouTube and on the Franceinfo website, these various contents gather no less than 39 million unique viewers per month in Europe in 2020. Finally, the magic recipe of the media lies in its ability to federate mainly Millennials (18-35 years old) and Generation Z (under 18 years old) around its content. Offering mainly impactful formats on current events, Brut highlights "a set of values shared by young people around the world such as the responsibility of power, the fight against discrimination, the environment, solidarity and the social impact of positive actions ," explains Guillaume Lacroix. Consequently, Brut wants to be committed to promoting progressive values and being an actor of an awareness and a social and political movement among the new generations of our society. Generally, the current debates at the center of their video make it possible to propel their number of viewers very, very high placing the digital media in place of the most influential media in Europe. Thus, " Génération Brut" is part of the continuity of an editorial line, a position and a voice adopted by Brut.

A youth with things to say

These documentaries are representative of a voice given to a youth who fights for causes that have remained in the shadows for too long to be put on the front of the stage, are claimed and above all inspire new common values in order to aspire to a better future so uncertain today. No offense to many people who remain locked into a conservative model and who describe the promotion of these emerging causes and the social struggles that accompany it as a "culture of victimization". To understand that open-mindedness and living together do not pass through hatred and judgment but through understanding and empathy. Indeed, by browsing Twitter in particular, we can see that these debates around the five causes addressed in "Génération Brut" sometimes inspire a wave of hatred or simply a misunderstanding of the founding values of these fights. Moreover, unfortunately, the individualistic barrier is widening through the debates that rage because of extremism on both sides. "Génération Brut" responds with this mini-series not by a fierce claim of the remarks made but by an immersive, exploratory and sensitizing look through the individual journey and the evolution of several young people between 15 and 30 years old in today's France. Ecology, veganism, the conception of love, gender identity, feminism, are all synonymous with the word freedom. Taking a fresh look at these themes tends to rethink norms, values, social, cultural and economic practices as well as ideological conceptions and constructions of the world that are internalized and anchored in our society and in the common imagination. Obviously, realities must change and "Génération Brut" reveals the movement initiating this change. Without falling into extremes that distance individuals, unconscious realities and ideologies that promote for example sexism, transphobia, pollution and destruction of our planet, lead to be modified by social movements and awareness.

Storytelling at the service of production

In these five episodes, we discover over each episode the experience of several profiles. Their narrative punctuates the construction of the documentary which reveals a little more of their intimacy and their "problematic" through their loved ones and through their questions, their motivations, their doubts, their fears, their hopes and their aspirations. The 55 minutes (approximately) of each episode pass extremely quickly. The floor is evenly divided between the different protagonists who intervene in the documentary, each representing a facet of the problem. Finally, the subject is based on different portraits. Each episode contains sequences in the daily life of the protagonists as well as more intimate sequences where each speaker speaks in front of the camera. Faithful to what Brut offers, the images are qualitative and relevant allowing a certain fluidity in the stories and in the episodes. The five episodes of "Génération Brut", "NATURES", "VEGANES", "TRANS", "FEMINISME" and "AMOURS" will be found this Friday, January 29 on Amazon's streaming platform, Prime Video. For the last word, a quote from Albert Guinon seems appropriate: "The passionate lift the world, and the skeptics let it fall." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er3NKau4Xus
