Crossover of the Arrow-Verse: Update on audiences

 We've been talking about it for months and that's it, it's over! The "Invasion!" crossover bringing together the four superhero series of the American channel CW has just ended. Did the operation pay off for the Arrow-Verse channel?

It was a first, and we can only hope that it will not be the last! Indeed, the crossover bringing together the series Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow has put us in full view! Beyond pleasing fans of the four series, it was a great opportunity for the small American channel CW to take advantage of this exposure to increase its audiences. And we can tell you that it is a great success for the Arrow-Verse!

The crossover officially debuted on Monday, November 28, in the eighth episode of the second season of Supergirl, titled Medusa. Although the appearance of Barry and Cisco is made in the last minute of the episode (the scene is even fully rebroadcast in The Flash), the episode displays 3.53 million viewers and a rate of 1.1 points on the famous target of 18-49 years. Which makes it for the moment his best performance of the season!

The next day, it was the turn of The Flash to enter the scene with the eighth episode of its season 3 entitled Invasion! 4.15 million viewers were behind their screens to attend Supergirl's first encounter with Green Arrow and the Legends. That is a rate of 1.5 points on 18-19 year olds. You have to look until December 9, 2014 to find such a high audience for the series! (our review of the episode)

On Wednesday, November 30, it was our favorite archer who rolled out the eighth episode of its fifth season, also entitled Invasion! In addition to being an integral part of the crossover, this episode was an opportunity for the Arrow series to celebrate its hundredth episode. An emotional episode with the return of several characters, and a magnificent way to pay tribute to the series. 3.55 million viewers were able to attend Oliver and Sara's farewell to Laurel (Katie Cassidy), with a rate of 1.3 points on 18-49 year olds. You have to go back to December 2, 2015 and the episode Legends of Yesterday (which served as a launching pad for DC's Legends of Tomorrow) to see a higher audience. (our review of the episode)

Let's talk about DC's Legends of Tomorrow! The seventh episode of its second season, aired on Thursday, December 1 , served as the conclusion to the Invasion crossover! American viewers were 3.33 million to witness the defeat of the Dominators, with a rate of 1.1 points on the famous target. This simply makes it the best audience of the series since its launch on January 21, 2016. (our review of the episode)

We already know that future audiences for episodes will be lower (Supergirl oscillates on average this season at 2.5 million viewers, The Flash, 2.8 million, Arrow, 1.8 million and finally DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 1.75 million), but the publicity stunt is successful for the CW channel! We have no doubt that we will soon find all our heroes in new adventures at one or the other!
