Yohann Le Ferrand releases his Yeko project in September. The guitarist went to meet the best musicians of West Africa and Mali. For the sublime first single entitled Verna Fassé, we discover the first guest: the singer of Timbuktu Khaïra Arby, unfortunately deceased since. Yohann Le Ferrand sails between Brittany and Africa, and accompanies many African artists on guitar during their tours and shows. His knowledge of African music is revealed in the album YEKO on which shine the musical encounters, particularly inspired where the musician fades behind African stars, like Khaïra Arby for the first extract of the record. Yerna Fassè reveals an exceptional featuring with Khaïra Arby the golden voice of Timbuktu. Both pop and funky, the trans percussion of the desert, the brass riffs and the Fulani violin carry an effective chorus of which only traditional music has the secret. In an angelic voice, she gives us this last opus before her death, she sings a unified Mali in peace and sharing between ethnic groups. This 1st single of the series of Portraits "Yeko" ("the way of seeing of…. " en Bambara) announces the release of the other featurings for September 2021. "The Yeko project is a way to explore different musical styles through the aesthetics and origin of each guest. I usually bring several playbacks a little targeted, then we work together on the melody. This is my favorite part because mutual trust creates chemistry and the soul of the song is built at this stage.
