The New York group Augustines bows out, and will bid farewell to the French public on October 10 at the Boule Noire. It's a safe bet that this moment will be rich in emotions.
Music, friends and resilience
Listening to their first album we think that some of their titles could undoubtedly be used on the B.O. of a romantic comedy. Then in fact no, a single of their song is already a film in itself. The whole range of emotions of an hour and a half in 4'12. We feel at the same time the experience, the resignation, and the positive conclusion that makes us hope (rightly) for a sweeter tomorrow.
So we learn about their history, and we discover that it is exactly that: a generous and positive group, definitely marked by the dramas of life, and whose musical creation has transcended suffering.

If their first album Rise Ye Sunken Ships (released in 2011) covers many sensitive topics, including the death of the mother and brother of the band's guitarist, Billy McCarthy (both suffering from schizophrenia), the titles of their next two albums – Augustines (released in 2014) and This is Your Life (released this year) – are definitely more soaring.
It is perhaps quite naturally by following this progression that the group decided to move on.
RISE: The Story of Augustines, to be released in theaters in 2017
To find out, we will have to wait for the release of the film that tells the story of our three musicians: guitarist Billy McCarthy, bassist Eric Sanderson and drummer Rob Allen. (Currently in production, and directed by Todd Howe.)
Their new album, This is Your Life, released in June is available for listening on the official website. If you take a tour, you can find all the dates of their tour and a letter to the attention of the fans of the Band.
