Vice E King is a duo made up of two Quebec musicians Jayana Auger and Guillaume Lessard. They released their pop/folk album L'enfer chez les autres in De Luxe version, with, among others, Mille Visages in stripped down and live version, recorded in Montreal. A jewel. Between pop and folk, the duo's music gives pride of place to string arrangements and chiseled vocal harmonies. We savor their texts with dark and squeaky poetry, which are reminiscent of those of Pierre Lapointe or Klô Pelgag. At the base of the band's music are the voices of Jayana Auger and Guillaume Lessard, who intertwine in rich harmonies, their respective timbres proving to be the perfect complement to each other. Their DNA is undeniably folk, but the album L'enfer chez les autres also reflects a desire for a more aerial music, so much so that string arrangements by Gabriel Desjardins occupy a prominent place. "It is ourselves who compose the texts. We always start with poems that we write separately, in the shower or in our sleep. Then we meet to put the words to music and to find catchy melodies. Our lyrics have a textured side. Jayana likes to talk about emotions so strong that you feel them inside. The subjects that we find inspiring are love (obviously) and all the sorrows that come with it: happiness, death, illness, unhealthy but interesting things (NB: go listen to "La foire aux femmes", which talks about the world of nude dancers…) and danger." vice E roi With this live version of the title Mille Visages, Jayana Auger and Guillaume Lessard who form vice E roi, chisel their vocal harmonies that come to haunt and rock us while the lyrics evoke the situation of uncertainty that we are all going through: " Tell me that everything is fine / Tell me that everything is fine / That my fears are dying ".
