It's announced, it's official… Underøath will perform in Paris on April 28 at the Alhambra. An essential date to note in his diary because it has now been 10 years since the group performed in France! Is will play their entire albums They're Only Chasing Safety and Define the Great Line.
This American post-hardcore/modern metalcore band was formed in 1999 and is therefore part of one of the first waves of American post-hardcore band.
There is a great emocore/screamo/metalcore influence in their music that can be clearly heard in the two albums they will play on April 28th. These two albums come together and produce a fairly structured sound that gives off a heavy but at the same time melodious sound between vocals and scream, which post-hardcore bands know how to mix so well.
A bit of a shame that Underøath did not play their last album Lost in the Sound of Separation released in 2009 which is frankly one of their best album with They're Only Chasing Safety. The band was able to include harmonious sounds with a more violent instrumental, but there is still something soothing while feeling severity in their songs (I am thinking in particular of the last song of the album "Desolate Earth :: The End is Here").
UNDERØATH in Paris is for me one of the must-see events not to be missed in 2017 of the post-hardcore scene… and as the group puts it so well on their Facebook page: "[…] It's going to move, so come and move your head […]» !
