The Kimya Ensemble is a real sound UFO between world and classical quartet. The four virtuosos navigate between the Middle East and Europe with ageless music, to be enjoyed with the extract Maramaros, adapted from Bartok. The album Between Mist and Sky will be released on October 20, 2022 on the Urborigène label, before concerts on 5/11/2022 at the Vollore Festival and on 09/11/2022 at the Studio de L'Ermitage in Paris. The Kimya ensemble claims to be a renion of four alchemist musicians. In the Arab world, Iran, Azerbaijan and Greece, kimya means "alchemy". The alchemist used to designate the scientist in search of a formula capable of transforming a metal alloy into gold. It is this metaphor that the ensemble spins through a music with mixed sounds, fruit of a meeting between santour, viola, cello and percussion, between East and West, which leads to unexplored universes. Throughout the first album Between Mist and Sky, creations and adaptations, impregnated with traditional motifs reworked in a resolutely contemporary approach, are like bridges between ancient cultures and present time. Ensemble Kimya - Between Mist & Sky Enriched by their common experience within the contemporary ensemble Kamaan, Olivier Marin and Amir Amiri continue with Kimya their musical dialogue that mixes Persian music and Western classical music. They are currently developing innovative projects, in collaboration with percussionist Romeo Monteiro and cellist Andrew Briggs. Between Mist and Sky manages to create a certain musical emulsion with this fusion from elsewhere that makes its effect throughout with "Maramaros" and "Raghs Bâd" before reaching the top with "Thiruppugal ". Just close your eyes and let yourself be carried away by this lyrical grace that runs through us with each note. Their musical dialogue mixes Persian music, Indian music and Western classical music. They extend their research to the world of quarter tones specific to oriental music but also to rhythmic cycles from Indian music and also draw their inspiration from the Western repertoire. The band is on Instagram and live on 5/11/2022 at the Vollore Festival and on 09/11/2022 at Studio de L'Ermitage in Paris. Here is the video of Maramaros: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YRwNPxpjZY
