On January 22, "Stachelight", Deluxe's second album, was released. For this comeback, the craziest mustachioed musicians in France have surrounded themselves with big names like IAM, Nneka and – M-. They have come a long way. Since their beginnings in the streets of Aix-en-Provence, Deluxe does not stop growing, or should we say grow like their mustaches. Composed of Kilo on drums and turntables, Liliboy on vocals, Pépé on saxophone, Soubri on percussion, Kaya and Pietre on bass, the group has not finished talking about him with the release of "Stachelight". Deluxe is above all a story of friendship, the story of a group of friends met on the benches of the high school of Aix who began to play in 2006 in the street with dreams in their heads. It is also the story of beautiful encounters. In 2011, during a party, they find without really looking for a voice: that of Liliboy. From this fortuitous union is born another that will change everything. During an improvised concert, they are spotted by Zé Mateo who is none other than one of the DJs of the Marseille group Chinese Man. The latter, excited by the dynamic music of Deluxe, decided to sign them under their label Chinese Man Records. They produced their first EP "Polishing Peanuts" in 2011 from which is taken the hit "Pony" which totals more than 3.6 million listens on Spotify. Their collaboration with Chinese Man Records gives them a new impetus that propels them to the front of the stage. For Deluxe, everything follows very quickly: a very noticed passage in Taratata and a tour of a hundred dates that reveals the enormous potential and energy of the group in front of an audience. In 2013, the band released their first album "The Deluxe Family Show". Hyperactive, they sign the same year the B.O. from the film Les Profs. Success is at the rendezvous. If Deluxe seduces so much, it is because they have developed their own identity combined with an unclassifiable electro, groove, pop, hip-hop, funk style. But it is live that the group deploys all its power, playing in a rare proximity with the public. An energy that the band wanted to transmit in its second album. After a year and a half of recording and the creation of their own label Nanana Production, Deluxe released a live album entitled "Stachelight". As usual, the band mixes styles. The album begins with the instigator "Shoes". A retrospective song, a nod to their journey and their catchy madness. It is followed by "Oh Oh" of a much calmer rhythm with jazz and soul tinges. The third song "Baby That's You" features the big – M- and colors the album with an energetic pop. "Tum Rakak" gives pride of place to the saxophone while "Right There" prints a more rhythmic rhythm. Fan of Deluxe in concert, you already know "Tall Ground" that the band played during the 10th anniversary tour of the Chinese Man label. However, the band does not recycle in the image of "Wait A Minute", certainly cut to put the mess live with its stunning guitar solo. Aix-Marseille, same fight since the group has enlisted the services of IAM, bringing rap into their repertoire in a sublime way. Speaking of known voice, the singer Nneka is ready to captivate you on the track "Bonhomme". Delicious. We will end the album with the melancholic "Era" or the ritornelle "Size Your Day" which also gives pride of place to brass. "My World", the last song perfectly closes this album which, while remaining deeply rooted in the Deluxe line, changes style and takes risks. Enough to make us bristle all the hair of the body from the feet to the mustache.
